The only social event of the year was the Junior-Senior banquet which was held May 18 at the St, James Hall. The central theme' was a circus. Mary Jo Kbbes was teastmaster, while other toasts were as follows: Ghimpanzee--Edward Naveg Lion--Grace Duchekg OstrichwMerlyn Znamenacek Walrus--Nadine Adamsg 'N E1ephantwwMr. Brennemang After the'dinner and toasts, a floor show was held, Magicians, tap dancers, harmonica players, and juvenile singers performed to conclude the program of the evening. The class presented their junior play, nShe Stoops to Conquern, on the night of December 8. As was the custom in the eighteenth century, Mr, Hardcastle KRobcrt Petracekl had chosen a husband for his daughter lShirlcy Pflastereri. Tony Lump- kin CPaul Jenscnl purposely sent the travelers CFred Kohl and Price May! to his father's house , having told them it was an inn. Others in the cast were Donald Winkler, Beth Knight, Mary Jo Kobes, Wayne Wheeler, Gwen Lannom, Leonard Seidi hoff, Robert Trupp, John Frew, and Rollo Wild. The officers of the senior class of 1941 were President Robert Spinar Vice-president Robert Trupp Secretary-treasurer Beth Knight o Student-councilman Wayne Wheeler Athletic Board Member Norman Stastny The sponsors were Mr. Gibb and Mr, Calvert, On the eve of February 21, the seniors and their choice guests entered the high school gym which was decorated with multi-colored balloons and with the patriotic colors, red, white, and blue for an evening of fun and enjoyment. Q Y The time was spent swinging and swaying the Boogie Woegies' way and sipping cokes and pep, During the intermission, the Virginia Reel was presented by six couples with the help of Mr. Bronnoman. The chaperens were Mr. and Mrs. Brenneman, Mr. and Mrs Canada, and Mr and Mrs Calvert The students on the dance committee were Grace Duchek, Jeanne Hacler, Aileen Speedlin, Mary Je Kobes, Gerald Patton and Merlyn Zn meracek The senior play of 1941 was Tons of Money' Engllsh farce Aubrey Allington lPau1 Jensen! was an inventor whose income was negligible. Com eneement exercises were held May 27th at eight ofcloek in the Sokol Hall. The speakers were the valedletorian and the salutatorian. Special awards were presented by the secretary of the schod. board and the diplomas were given by the presldent of the board The two weeks preceding the performance of nTons of Moneyn a contest was held between the civies and economics classes to see which could sell more tickets to the play The losing team had to supply the netsw for the annual picnic On Monday, May 19, the senior class held its an- nual picnic at Linco1n's Capitol Beach.
