“'U' Ain l is N l N N K CDM M ff' in V l N W l l l l l nf f. l 1 i3 Ss ! 1 -.f' fir, rift: fig ,gif .kr 'nfs ,3 2', fir 1' ,,,, ,Un Whig THE SENIORS A In September of 1957 eighty-one freshmen, eager to begin their four year journey, entered Crete Hi's doors, They elected the following officers: President Paul Jensen Vice-President Norman Stastny Sec'y-Treasurer Mary Jo Kobes Student Council Betty Lou Wild Member Sponsors Mr. Calvert Mr. Misner nLena Riversn was presented as the freshman play, This was the story of a girl who came from the back- woods with her grandmother to live with an aunt and uncle. The aunt could have been classified as a snob, and so Lena had her troubles when living in the'city. In the winter a party was held in the high school gymnasium, With ping pong, Chinese checkers, cards --along with big sacks of popcorn and applese-the ngreenh freshmen held their first class socialn ' In the spring the class hiked to the bluffs. While plating nCapture the Flag,H in a frantic at- tempt by someone to capture the flag, La Verne Fos- ter broke her leg. Merlyn Znamenacek ,dashed to town for a doctor, Voting in the first school election ever to be conducted in Crete High School, as sophomores the class chose the following people to serve as their officers: President Paul Jensen Vice-President Wayne Wheeler Sec'y-Treasurer Eunice Sehrein Student Council Mary Jo Kobes Member The sponsors were Mrs. Baldwin and Miss Sahs. The class made its annual trip to the bluffs for a spring picnic. Most of the time was spent play- ing softball and nfallingn up and down the bluffs. The play of that year was NA Merry Death.U This was a dramatization of one person taking the part of two people. Judge Taggert, having found out that Jim, the Dandy, had been released from jail skipped the country and his twin brother, Elmo , came into the scene. There was a mix-up of characters, but they finally were all straightened out. A M
