Practice was uneventfulg the big problem was in getting enough players for fullscrimmage during the first two weeks of practice. The first real scrimage work the team had was at the Jamboree. Creswell was defeated in their quarter of the Jamboree but the com- ment of the coaches was that Creswell was the best hustling team present. As the season progressed, more men turned out. The team did fairly well in the first half of the season, winning three out of five games. Then toward the middle of the season, players began getting hurt quite regularly. At one time there were three players of the starting team out with injuries. Some of the members that played regularly and showed outstanding ability and hustle were: Dean Taylor, forwardg Stan Andrews, forwardg Bob Burris, centerg Skeeter McC1uskey, guardg Tim Bates, guardg and Skip Calhoun, forward, who was slowed down by injuries. This year Creswell's Baseball team was plagued by misfortunes. Two of last years starters were ineligible to play due to age. All other senior players except one were not able to play for some other reason. Coach Burr in an effort to make a better basis for future teams, forfeited all league games. The Bulldogs still played the full schedule but our opponents did not use any seniors on their clubs. This gave the Bulldogs more desire and a better chance to win some games. Although the Bulldogs outhit mmf of their opponents and Blowers had a low ERA of 2.5 on the mound, it still cou1dn't make up for lack of support in the infield. The season record stood at 1 win and 13 losses, but more important is the experience gathered by next year's varsity. Leading hitter for Creswell was Bruce Brundidge batting at a .400 clip, followed by Bob Burris .856, Ken Harris and Cliff Roberts at .333, Skip Calhoun .292. B A dw.. A ,Q S E B A L L . -, in . Twenty-three boys participated in track this season, although for mmt of them the participation was very limited for one reason or another. Some good track talent was put to use in Baseball which cost us some points at our meets. Other talent was ordered out of competition by the doctors. Some talent was taken home at 3:30 by boys who followed the line of least resistance. Some new talent was displayed and exercised by a faithful few who held on till the end of thc season in spite of being 'snowed under' at our meets. Three boys represented our school in the district meetg Bob Workman, Junior, Low Ilurdlcsg Stcn Mawson, Freshman, in the Milcg and Ray Johnson, Sophomore, in the Dis:-nscs. These three competed well, but failed to qualify for the State Meet. This year's lettermcn are Bob Workman with a total of 41 points in three meets, Sten Mawson with S points, and Terry Kirk- endall with 7 points. The George Straton Award winner for the year 1957 was Allen Bradshaw. Although he was ineligable to play basket- ball and track, if Was the o- pinionof the Lettermans Club that he was the most deserving of the award. Due to the fact that he did very much in the past two years to help the Athe- letic program ofthe school. ACU It IGS es, ,Q 1. . Y xi. None of these seem like a murderer, but rhere's no- body left . . except maybe wren-like Miss Mabbit, Aunt C a r oli n e's paid companion . . but no, she wouldn't kill the goose that laid the golden egg now, or would she? Of course Aunt Caroline de- served to die . . no doubt of that . . she was mean, domi- neering and rich. But who in the family could have killed her? Surely not Riccy, who's aswell young fellow: nor Beryl, whom you'd be proud to call yoursisterg not little Cissy, who roller-skates and likes sugar on her bread. Could it have been kind-hearted Mrs. E n d i c ot t herself, or lovely Agnes who dreamed of marrying Dave, a newspaper man? Surely not! Did Karen Andre' commit a murder or not? That its the question that had to beanswered by the jury at Creswell High School, Friday, April 19th. The setting took place in the Superior Court of the State of New York. It was a murder trial by jury. It was a Comedy-Drama in three acts. The acts consisted of many witnesses and their testimonies, while under oath as to what connection they had with the murder, directly or indirectly. The cast consists of 21 actors plus the jury drawn from the audience. After both the matinee and the evening performance Karen Andre' was proclaimed not guilty by the jury.
