Crestwood is a living and breathing entity, a collection of sights, sounds and feelings that can never be captured on film, but which will always re- main in our hearts and minds. Crestwood’s soul is a warm thing that pervades the atmosphere of the halls, and lingers in the corner of an empty classroom. It lives in the shell of the school building, but this soul also seeks shelter within the students who come and go through Crestwood’s halls. Crestwood is such things as smiling faces; slamming lockers; roaring voices at a pep assembly; whispered discussions in study hall; the noisy jubilance of Homecoming; the quiet and awesome solemnity of commencement; the odor of mimeographed tests; the peace of an empty auditorium; the salty taste of tears; the lilting sound of laughter; the touch of a warm hand; crowded hall- ways; empty locker rooms; cozy “fish bowls’’; vic- tory dances; romantic proms; freshman beanies; sophomore magazines; junior class rings; senior pride; our school’s fight song. Crestwood is indestructible; it will live as long as our memories haunt us. Crest- wood is a spirit, living wild and free and within us forever. Crestwood is within us. We are Crestwood. : ; : : ' Y) [1 — = — — [ U This couple enjoys a quiet mo- ment in each others company. Mr. John Studt 159 come; separate joys. he was a friend. remembered from some time ago of boyhood days, spent racing up the highest tree; swimming the swiftest streams. even african lions ran from our yell. and the days passed. the tree was never quite as high again, the streams ran only slightly swift, split apart—each a separate way. lions grew tired and laid down to rest. and alone we stood, seeking the forest long yet dead that whistles in the wind. —gary sexton 160 SR ee a — eee “ _ — a = =e ST a IO ee | : i ee ee Ee
