CRESTVIE FIRST ROW: Martha Smith, Dianna Miller, Judy Feasby, Clara Short, Cathy Springer, Linda Straw, Judy Pancake, Sally Rice, Jeanne Poling. SECOND ROW: Barbara Pritchard, Rebecca Stuck, Louann Burger, Karen Dutton, John Dady, Dick Sheets, Rose Ann Purk, Karen Harris. THIRD ROW: Linda Pennel, Debby Straw, Janice Rhoades, Ellen Branstra- tor, Betty Tinnel, Keith Bowers, Mike McOmber, Roger Purk. FOURTH ROW: Mr. Sills, Mike Pancake, Gary Mohr, Stan Rosendahl, James VanHorn. The band started off the 1965-66 school year in fine fashion by winning the first place trophy in their class at the Van Wert County Fair Band Competitions. The Crestview Band has won this event three times in succession. Other appearances by the band during the fall included Halloween parades at Ohio City and Convoy, and a football sho combining all the bands of Van Wert County and Van Wert City at a Van Wert game. The seniors and juniors received their awards and the freshmen were initiated at the annual band banquet on Nov. 6. The band presented a Christmas Show during the half time of one of the basketball games and the twirlers presented a show at another. The pep band appeared at other games. All the band members became temporary Janitors to help sweep up the pop corn their parents sold at the concession stand. The combined band and chorus Christmas Concert drew a fine crowdg as did the band's winter concert. The band was well represented at Ada when two Crestview students, Dan Duncan and Linda Flickinger, won first chairs the District Ill Festival Band. These two were also chosen to perform in the two day Bowling Green University Sight- Reading Clinic. Contests were next--starting with solo and ensembles at Lima and ending with the whole band at Celina. There was a lot of work and practice for them and a much improved band was a result. lt's a sure bet that few band members will ever forget Il Re Pastorc or Themes' from Offenbachf' Awards Day was Bradley Gibson and Diane Young named as the outstanding Freshmen, and James Van Horn and Kay Dauler the outstanding Sophomores.
