FIRST ROW: Dennis Sowers, Nancy Mohr, Jim Nofer, Terry Slane, and Joy Brittsan. SECOND ROW: Sharon Ward, Sheila Myers, Cheryl Dougal, Dwight Rhoades, Carolyn Pierce, Bonnie Dull, and Joy Rhoades, THIRD ROW: Sharon Woodard, Rita Hurless, Erney Finch, Patty Heare, and Keith Imler. During the Summer of 1961, the band gave two evening concerts on the front lawn of the school, marched at Paulding, and attended the State Fair. A summer outing was held at Pokagan State Park. Fall activities included performances at the County Fair and parades at Van Wert, Ohio City, and Convoy. New Marching routines and training were introduced. Winter brought increased activities. A pep band of sixteen members performed for the home basketball games and many band members helped the Band Mothers in operating the concession stand. The Christmas program featured a finale that presented both the chorus and band in a combined number. Five band members Uim Thomas, Roberta Jellison, Ann Taylor, Diane Bagley, and Jerry Fenslery attended the District HI festival at Lima Shawnee High School. Two band members fRoberta Jellison, and Kermit Imlerj were selected for the All Ohio Select High School Band. They spent two days at Bowling Green State University reading and performing new music and band directors from all of Ohio. March brought contest time. At the district solo and ensemble contest, Sue Hamrick won a I rating and Kermit lmler and Bonnie Dull won II ratings on solos. On March 24 the band won a II rating in the band contests held at Bluffton. The Annual May Queen concert was held on May 4.
