Our local YFC club is affiliated with Van Wert County Youth For Christ. As a club we work together with the other clubs in the county for the promotion of Youth For Christ in Van Wert County. Our club meets once a week after school. We have various programs in- cluding such guest speakers as Winston Pike, Harold Walker, and Dave Burnham. We also have a sports program known as Teen Olympics. This year Van Wert County placed 6th in the state of Ohio in overall competition. Youth For Christ also places great emphasis on Teen Talent. From local contests, winners go on into state competition. The Ohio State winners then proceed to Winona Lake, Ind. where they participate in the YFC International play-offs. ln recent years Van Wert County Youth For Christ has had winners in both State and National Contests. Ten members entered science projects at the first annual science fair held at the high school, and six members entered their projects at the District Science Fair held at Defiance on April 7, 1962.
