Miss Lorraine Adams, art teacher, is active with the Friends of Arts organization of the Grand Rapids Art Gallery. ' '- if R Mr. Charles Chase came to Creston the second semester to teach retail selling. 10 Mr. Donald Black, who teaches English, coaches football and basketball. Mr. Jay Rens and Mr. Martin L. Vanwingen are advisers of the senior and junior classes of Creston. Mr. Rens in addition to a busy sched- ule as teacher of economics finds time to provide wise guidance for all the activities of an eventful senior year, including that highlight of all, grad- uation day. To Mr. VanWingen falls the job of assisting the juniors as they branch out into the varied activities of upperclassmen-the Amateur Hour, the Revue, and the Prom. Y: , E ,JH . Pupil Personnel Director Lowell McDougal is unfailing in his efforts to help Creston students adjust to the demands of school life. When Creston'sA doors were opened last fall, returning students noticed many chan-ges among the faculty members. We still welcome Mr. Wickett to our building on occasion, but his position as principal has been assumed by Mr. Waters. Other persons not returning to their familiar spots this year included Mr. VanKrimpen, Mr. Welch, Mr. Constant, Miss Rusch, Mr. Howland, and Mrs. Doerr. New teachers welcomed to the building were Miss Suzanne O'Neal, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Mr. Charles Chase, Mr. Harold Snyder, and Mr. Gene Blossom. To Mr. joe McGee, who also began teaching here last fall, September must have seemed like a Homecoming, for he was a popular Creston graduate of 1944. ,xrrszw--vm' im: W- M Mr. Orville Scoville's task at Creston is to assist in keeping attendance regular. To mention all the ways in which the faculty helps Creston students would be a virtual impos- sibilityg however, we' would like to mention the fact that practically every teacher in addition to teaching five hours every day assumes the respon- sibility for direction of at least one extracurricular activity. Coaches, conductors of musical groupsg dramatics, debate, and forensic directors, publica- tions advisers, sponsors of various clubs and or- ganizations, session room teachers-all these people give liberally of their time, talents, and energies to helping Creston students develop all facets of their character and abilities. 1 1 school office running efficiently but make friendly contact with students who desire information or help.
