Faculty IN BOTH wisdom and leadership we can compare our principal, Mr. Howard W. Wickett, to any of the great Indian chiefs who led their tribes in war and peace in our wooded and unsettled state many years past. Each tribe was loyal to the decisions and trusted in the advice of its chief as we, the stu- dent body and faculty, follow the counsel of our principal. 4 ray, , f-rt X 5' vi I. ,-' . , ,Q Q ifbiisiii 5 ff. A QV Fads and Fancies IF YOU,RE TRYING to find the latest whims in clothing. haircuts, or doo- dads, Creston is the place to find them. Short haircuts were something that hit Creston with a slash this year. In the upper right hand picture youill find The Barbershop Quartettef' A revival of the yo-yo trend came about this year. The picture at center right shows a group of boys demonstrating their great talents! Not only the boys are talented. In the bottom left hand picture we see rivals. Oh. those lucky fellows who received a beautiful pair of argyles from their best girls. A few seniors demonstrate their skill in the lower right hand picture. 'rrp . As Crestonites start out on life's rocky path, they will find themselves better pre- pared for social and business life for hav- ing taken part in school clubs and organ- izations. Someday, looking back at the great times held at their dear Alma Mater, they will remember with satisfaction the gaiety and friendship found in the good old pow-wows. 5 ,wmv-1-M A 1:'m,.,- . , -ar ,,. . , ...vw- cv-as E I Rowl Mlss Wood M Trexber I Benedict J Ascherman S Schrxber B Kremer P Keegstra Row 2 A Thompson N Jenkins P Corlm B Laansma J Pl'lllllpS J Sweet Row 3 E Hrggms L Rosendall B Terkeurst A Broekema A Goodwm OHICCFS A Broekema President P Keegstra Secretary E Hlg gms Treasurer J Ascherman Vlce Presldent Semor Honor SOClCty THIS YEAR S Senlor Honor SOCl8ty under the leadershlp of MISS Cleo Wood had as thelr mam project a Go To College week March 14 18 that mcluded movles post ers drsplays and an assembly fea turmg Russell Mawbey as speaker The club s officers were presldent Andrew Br-oekema' v1ce-presldent Janet Aschermang secretary, Pat Keegstrag and treasurer, Edgar Higgins, with Student Council rep- resentative, Margaret Treiber. ...wi ggt 5 3 21 Q 4 MXIH' z 7-f 4,-c xg rf: A f 'f A res .J P gd., .2 li it F a x, M5 1 A ,-. The first of these was the annual Thanksgiving distribution of baskets for the needy. During the second semester the club replaced the record board for track with a better type. One hundred dollars was also donated to the school for a new loud speaker system to be used in the gym. The club held meetings every week. They were packed with fun, and since active speakers were invited to speak many educational talks were heard. Officers at left - President, .H. Beeng Secretary, R. Proos: Treasurer, B. The squad is composed of students who have merits of responsibility and dependability. Quietness is insured by hall posts manned at frequent positions about the halls. They see to it that disturbing noise is prevented during class periods. Along with this, the Courtesy Squad maintains a group of workers who keep order in the cafeteria. These workers instruct the students in proper procedure and conduct in the cafeteria. Every hour of the day you can see the hall monitors on duty keeping order in our corri-l dors. Many thanks are in order for the won- derful work they do. The group is organized and directed by Miss Mary Windt. 91 Row I - D. Beerthuis, Nl. Millard, C. Cunnett. B. Weersma C. Breen. B. Student Council THE STUDENT COUNCIL has had a busy and profitable year for the school. They sponsored several repair jobs. Among these were having the juke box used. for dances fixedg repairing the hall showcasesg getting a new bulletin board for the front hallg and put- ting name plates on class room doors. However their energies were not entirely spent on repairs, for they put on noon movies, a noon dance, and a dance after the Ottawa basketball game. And because there was no Hikers Club .this year to sponsor the annual Daffodill Prom. they took over the job of making the dance a success. Election of the president by all the students was done for the first time this year in the his- tory of Creston. Row I - A. Keith. D. Thomas, J. Bunker, M. Robinette, A. Fuller, M. Rickner, S.
