Blond Faith Albers who always had a twinkle in her eye was well liked by her class. Faith was a member of the Y-Teens, A. B., Hikers, and was in the One Acts. Arlie Albrecht, our popular gridiron player and a returned vet was a member of the C Club, and Hi-Y. He also partici- pated in football, baseball, and track. Arlie was co-captain of the football team. Handsome and popular jack Allwood, in spite of the fact that he came to Creston in his Senior year, made a great many friends. Jack was in the Sr. Play and on the football team. The Latin Club, Science Club, Bars and Chevron Club, R. O. T. C., and playing the part of the lawyer, Mr. Loomis, in the Senior play kept Donald Arnold very busy, besides photography, in which he excelled. A petite and likeable member of the class, was dark haired Beverly Austin. Bev was a member of the ACapella Choir, Echo, A. B., Latin Club, Courtesy Squad, and Y-Teens, and also took part in the junior Revue and Gloria. One of our returned sea-going vets was dark haired Blaine Bailey, who was interested in football, bowling, and photog- raphy, Blaine was a member of the R. O. T. C. and track team. Slender and good looking describes carefree Robert Bailey who was especially fond of outdoor sports, hunting and fishing. Bob was also interested in boxing as a hobby. Seldom serious, Gerald Bartlett was a lad with an abundance of energy, little of which went to waste. Jerry was a four-year band man, manager of the baseball team and a member of the C-Club and Hi-Y. Lyman in the One Acts, alias Gordon Bass, in real life served eighteen months in the Navy. At Creston, Gordy took part in Gloria and was on the Courtesy Squad. An earnest and reliable fellow who always had a happy smile for everyone was Russell Bass. Russ was especially interested in printing and as a result proved to be an expert at it. The beautiful raven locks and sparkling blue eyes of attractive Betty Dinkle made everyone sit up and take notice. Bet served her school by being an active member of the courtesy squad and belonging to A. B. That friendly fellow who was always up to something cer- tainly describes michievious Max Beebe. Max was a member of the Science Club and Hi-Y and displayed his dancing ability in the boy's line dance for the Jr. Revue. Dainty and sweet little Judith Bement, who came to Creston from Wyoming Park in her senior year proved her dramatic ability by her portrayal of Sarah in January Thaw. Judy belonged to the Courtesy Squad, Latin Club and Y-Teens. A swell friend to all and a good sport was good-looking Charles Benham. Chuck came back to Creston after serving a term in Uncle Sam's Navy. He was a member of the Vets Club. The grand cheerful gal who helped us any time we were at a loss in the library was Corlise Bielow. Graduating in February, Corky belonged to the Courtesy Squad, Horizon Club and was a tireless hospital aid at Butterworth. Husky Gerald Biener, better known as Si, had a super per- sonality. Si was junior class president, in the senior play, and also a member of the football team, C Club, Hi-Y, Science Club, Courtesy squad, and Latin Club. Vivacious lla Blackall certainly did prove that good things come in small packages. She was in the Junior Revue, Hikers Club, A Capella choir, Gloria and on the courtesy squad. lla also worked on make-up in the senior play. An earnest and hard worker describes Paul Bowersox who was known and admired by all. He was active-in the R. O. T. C. and was a member of the Bars and Chevrons Club. Paul was interested in the Army Finance Department and joined in February.

Class Officers : Henry Waterkamp President Ed Frey Vice President Roma Woodworth Secretary Robert Doorn Treasurer Gerald Vander Voord, Henry Waterkamp, Ed Frey and Jack Allwood. Joann Bruce was assistant director. Chairmen were: Maurice Davenport, Don Faase, Shirley Sierveld, Bon- nie Goudzwaard, Beverly Poland, Robert Doorn and Marcia Hall. Music was played by the orchestra. On May 2nd the class gave a square dance at which a good time was had by all. Chair- man of the event was Si Biener. May 9th was the date of the unforgettable senior banquet. Co-chairmen were Roma Woodworth and Ed Frey. Bobby Knool's Band provided the music for dancing. Also this spring, on the 23rd of May, the juniors gave the Junior-Senior Prom. Class colors, chosen on March 20th, were Navy Blue and White. Chairman of this committee was Gloria De Maagd. Chairman of the motto committee was Joanne Houser. Yvonne Schrump was Chairman 'of Song Committee. On the evening of' June l2th, the solemn seniors march down the aisle in caps and gowns and thus ends the high school career of the class of 47 . Seniors Represent Sophistication The efficient officers elected after the first quarter by the class of 1947 were: Henry Waterkamp, president, Ed Frey, vice presi- dent, Roma Woodworth, secretary, Bob Doorn, treasurer. The Senior Shuffle given after the Cres- ton-Central game was the first money-mak- ing project of the class, and incidentally a success. Music was furnished by a group of talented seniors. January Thaw, the play for this year, was presented on March 5, 6, and 7, and was a smash hit. A double cast was a new feature this year. The story was unique and the casts did a very commendable job. Included in the cast were: Gracia Whitworth, Ted Miller, Judy Bement, Dolores Wesorick, Gloria De Maagd, Martha Van Dyke, Phyllis Fuller, Yvonne Schrump, June VanderJagt, Alberta Vanderwall, Si Biener, Don Van Dyke, Gayla Lou Gilchrist, Pat Palmatier, Donald Arnold,

Often seen busily working at the school library was Barbara Bridges. Barb was a very good partner on a dance floor and belonged to the A. B., Latin Club, the Library Club, Y-Teens, and Courtesy Squad. Peaches and cream complexion combined with beautiful blue eyes describes sweet Mary Jane Brock, Mary Jane belonged to the A. B. Club and participated in the junior Revue. Fred Brown proved to be a dependable and ingenious stage manager and also found time to take the part of a soldier in Gloria. Fred was interested in Debate and a hard working member of the Echo staff. A likeable personality, an infectious giggle, and a charming blush were characteristics of Joann Bruce. Io was in the junior Revue, junior Honor Society, Saga Staff, Gloria, Horizon Club, Student Council. Also A. B., Courtesy Squad, Senior Ushers, and assistant director of the Senior Play. An infectious giggle and mischievous big brown eyes intro- duce Barbara Bush. Barb, who was always happy-go-lucky, and rarin' to go belonged to the courtesy squad, and was much interested in art. Pretty Corinne Byl, who came to Creston from Davis Tech in her junior year, made a great many friends here, Corny was a member of the girls' sextet, Junior Revue, Gloria, A Capella Choir, and ushered at the Senior Play. Cute and sweet was Barbara Calkins who played an angel in Gloria and was on the Echo staff. Barb's pep was proven by her participation in A. B., courtesy squad, student council, Library Club, and Y-Teens. She was also in the junior Revue and Debate. The fellow with a real sense of humor is Tom Campbell who finished his senior year with us after coming from the navy. Tom caused considerable excitement around school with his pet monkey when he first enrolled. James Candella, whose special interest centered around the cinder path, was a really keen fellow who enjoyed hunting and fishing and went all out for a good time. Beverly Carlberg, whose sparkling brown eyes were the envy of many, displayed a decided artistic ability in interior decor- ating. Bev was a member of the Y-Teens and Horizon Club. Tall, lanky Clarence Carlson could always be found spending his spare time in either the machine shop or mechanical drawing room. This blond lad also belonged to the orchestra and track team. Virginia Carpenter, who was the possessor of that nice naturally curly hair and friendly smile for everyone, was very active in the Horizon Club. Virginia was also on the Courtesy Squad and helped put on both the Junior Revue and the Senior Play. One of the returning veterans was Hazen Carr, a former member of the band. Bub, as he was so much better known, had an engaging smile and wit which won him many friends. Strike up the band! Here comes Richard Castor whose interest in music was shown by his nine semester membership in the band. Dick went in for photography, mechanical draw- ing, hunting and fishing. A real live wire describes Patricia Chase. Pat was active in Debate and radio work and before graduating in February, participated in many of the school debates. Pat's hobby was collecting stamps. Mischievous Bernard Clarke was always active and always up to something making him a natural for the portrayal of Rod- ney in the One Act Plays. Bud could always be seen rattling around in his little Ford. A little guy with a big friendly grin was Maurice Davenport. An enthusiastic musician, Maurie was a veteran member of the band, besides taking part in track and being stage manager for the Senior Play. Smiles and laughs accompanied by those crimson blushes made likeable David Davey a favorite with the members of the class. Dave was in the R. O. T. C., Hi-Y, Science Club, A Capella Choir, Latin Club, C Club, and Courtesy Squad.
