Some of the past presidents of the P. T. A. taken at the Founders' Day Banquet. P. T. A. Preserves Our Contact With the Public f Creston P. T. A. has completed a successful year. The year was opened with an open house, giving parents a chance to consult the teachers. A Penny Carnival in November drew a crowd of over 1000 students and parents, and made the organization solvent for the year. The theme for the year was Looking Ahead in Grand Rapids, and Eat three meetings speakers brought pictures of the future in Grand 'Rapids from an educational and industrial standpoint. A Founders Day Banquet was held in February, which highlighted the year socially. A Dad's night in April and a tea in May to honor Mothers of new 7th graders completed our year. The P. T. A. sponsored several student dances, and also completed the sale of the Polar Bear decals. A financial contribution to the Echo helped them out of difficulties arising from increased printing prices. Class Officers : Henry Waterkamp President Ed Frey Vice President Roma Woodworth Secretary Robert Doorn Treasurer Gerald Vander Voord, Henry Waterkamp, Ed Frey and Jack Allwood. Joann Bruce was assistant director. Chairmen were: Maurice Davenport, Don Faase, Shirley Sierveld, Bon- nie Goudzwaard, Beverly Poland, Robert Doorn and Marcia Hall. Music was played by the orchestra. On May 2nd the class gave a square dance at which a good time was had by all. Chair- man of the event was Si Biener. May 9th was the date of the unforgettable senior banquet. Co-chairmen were Roma Woodworth and Ed Frey. Bobby Knool's Band provided the music for dancing. Also this spring, on the 23rd of May, the juniors gave the Junior-Senior Prom. Class colors, chosen on March 20th, were Navy Blue and White. Chairman of this committee was Gloria De Maagd. Chairman of the motto committee was Joanne Houser. Yvonne Schrump was Chairman 'of Song Committee. On the evening of' June l2th, the solemn seniors march down the aisle in caps and gowns and thus ends the high school career of the class of 47 . Seniors Represent Sophistication The efficient officers elected after the first quarter by the class of 1947 were: Henry Waterkamp, president, Ed Frey, vice presi- dent, Roma Woodworth, secretary, Bob Doorn, treasurer. The Senior Shuffle given after the Cres- ton-Central game was the first money-mak- ing project of the class, and incidentally a success. Music was furnished by a group of talented seniors. January Thaw, the play for this year, was presented on March 5, 6, and 7, and was a smash hit. A double cast was a new feature this year. The story was unique and the casts did a very commendable job. Included in the cast were: Gracia Whitworth, Ted Miller, Judy Bement, Dolores Wesorick, Gloria De Maagd, Martha Van Dyke, Phyllis Fuller, Yvonne Schrump, June VanderJagt, Alberta Vanderwall, Si Biener, Don Van Dyke, Gayla Lou Gilchrist, Pat Palmatier, Donald Arnold,
