joan Van lNIalsen's aim was to become a nurse. joan was a member of the Horizon Club. Ambitious and amiable, Richard Van Oort was an R,O,T.C, major, in the junior Revue, and a member of the Bars and Chevrons Club. Gay, delightful, Pat Van Oss was feature editor of the Echo, director for the one-act plays, and in the junior Revue, and Gloria. Pat was a member of the Courtesy Squad, Footlights Club, A.B. Club, and junior and Senior Honor Societies. Friendly, good-natured, jean Vaughan was secre- tary of the Hiker's Club, a member of A.B. Club, Courtesy Squad, and Saga staff. She was an Usher for the junior Revue. A member of the Senior Girl Reserves and Hiker's Club, sweet, demure, Vernetta Venema was on the make-up committees for the one-act plays, Gloria, and Senior Play, and took part in the junior Revue. A swell fellow to know, Marvin Viergever was a member of the Hi-Y, R.O.T.C., and band, and was on the football team. Marv appeared in the junior Revue and took special interest in sports and music. Herbert Voshol liked to have a good time. He was a member of choir and the Courtesy Squad, and ap- peared in Gloria. Herby was particularly interested in bookkeeping. A good student, joyce Wade was a member of the Spanish Club, Hikers Club, and Senior Girl Reserves. She appeared in the junior Revue. You couldn't help but like and laugh with Barbara Waldmiller, the girl with the million-dollar personal- ity. Barb was in the Courtesy Squad, senior play, junior Revue, senior ushers, Hiker's, Latin, Girl Reserves, and Presidents' Clubs. Five feet two, big brown eyes - Bonnie Warher lremember Helen in the senior play?j was in the one- act plays, Gloria, Courtesy Squad, and a member of Hiker's, A.B., and Amicitia. Lively little Elayne Waters was always in a hurry and always busy. She was active in orchestra, choir, Girl Reserves, Latin Club, Courtesy Squad, both Honor Societies, debate, and the war council. A refreshing personality and a pair of bewitching brown eyes introduce jean Watrous. jean played the oboe in the band and orchestra for three years and was a member of the Senior Girl Reserves. Richard Way always smiled an especially nice smile at the girls. Dick was active in the Courtesy Squad, baseball, and the C Club. An enthusiastic dancer, Roberta jane Way appeared in the junior Revue, junior Amateur Hour, and travel- ing assemblies, and was on committees for several other dramatic productions, She was a member of the Courtesy Squad, Red Cross, and the Presidents' Club. Effervescent with pep and personality was Betty Lou Westveer. Louy' was in the one-act plays, Gloria, junior Revue, Courtesy Squad, and senior play. President of the Hiker's, Vice-president of the Senior Honor Society, and a member of the Student Council, AB., Latin, and Footlights. Barbara Sweeney, who was a member of the Girl Reserves, Hiker's and Latin Clubs, was never seen without that black, wavy-haired companion. Marilyn Taylor was always in a big hurry. Melt was in the Courtesy Squad, Gloria, Senior Girl Re- serves, Student Council, Glee Club, choir, and an usher for the senior play. A welcome member to the Honor Society was Fred Ten Hoor. Fred was also a member of the Creston Model Airplane Club. Short and sweet, Elizabeth Terkeurst was active in the Courtesy Squad, Girls' Meet, junior Revue, A.B., and Senior Girl Reserves. For she's a jolly good fellow - Rosemary Thiebout was active in the Courtesy Squad, junior Revue, Student Council, Hiker's, Senior Girl Reserves, and the Footlights. Especially popular with the opposite sex was Jeanne Thompson. Jeanne took part in the junior Revue and Girls' Meet. A member of the Choir, Girl Reserves, Footlights, Courtesy Squad, and Senior ushers, was energetic Edna Tickner. She was in the Girls' Meet and helped on committees for several plays. Charlene Tierney was a good example of a little girl made of sugar and spice and everything nice. Chuck was in the junior Revue, Glee Club, choir, Courtesy Squad, and Girl Reserves. Sophistication and gaiety were two of the charac- teristics of Patricia Titus. She appeared in the Junior Revue, Girls' Meet, Gloria, and belonged to the Choir. Charming Ruth Vander jagt was a member of the Courtesy Squad, A.B. Club, Amiticia Club, and helped on a committee for the senior play. Cheerful and sweet, Lois Vander Kooy was an Echo typist, member of the Glee Club and was in the Girls' Meet. She was particularly interested in art. Happy-go-lucky jean Vandervoord was a member of Footlights, A.B., Amicitia, Hiker's, Courtesy Squad, and Glee Club. She was assistant director for the senior play and was in the Junior Revue, Gloria, and helped with the one-act plays. Will anyone forget jacquelyn Van Hartum as Gale joy in the senior play? jackey was in the junior Revue, Courtesy Squad, Gloria, and the Amicitia, Footlights, and A.B. A charming personality was possessed by Christine Van Holstyn, who was in the junior Revue, Courtesy Squad, Girls' Meet, and an Echo Typist. Tina was a member of the Senior Honor Society, Library, and Presidents' Clubs. A small girl with a big smile was Bonnie Van Houten, who was in the Courtesy Squad and the Senior Girl Reserves. Rosemary Whiting was a friendly member of the class. She was a member of the Senior Girl Reserves, and the Hiker's. A little man with a big smile, Alfred Wilkins was a member of the band, and was especially interested in woodshop and machine shop. Friendly, sweet, and just plain nice to know, Ella Williams appeared in the Iunior Revue, and was a member of the Library Club, Latin Club, A.B., Senior Ushers, and both junior and Senior Honor Societies. just plain sweet - Betty Worpel was in the junior Revue, secretary of the senior class, and an usher for the senior play. Berry was a member of the Senior Girl Reserves, and the A.B. Vivian Wright was a member of the Library Club and junior and Senior Honor Societies. This charm- ing, petite miss also served on committees for the Junior Revue and senior play. Bob Yackels put both feet forward as Hunk in the senior play. Bob was active in Gloria, band, courtesy Squad, R.O.T.C., track Qmanagerj, and Science, Bars and Chevrons, and the C Clubs. Bob was also president of the Hi-Y. Deep voiced, curly-headed Eugene Yakes was in the one-act plays, senior play, Gloria, choir, and the Courtesy Squad. Euey was a member of the R.O.T.C. and Bars and Chevrons. Last, but certainly not least, in our parade of seniors of '44, we have joan Madges.
