Standing: Edwina Robinson, Nate Slack, jean Vander Vord, Rose Hendrikse. we Swim af 1944 On October 14, 1943 the ofhcers of the class of '44 were elected on the blue ticket. Neil Ingersoll was elected president, Lee Meyers, vice-president, Betty Worpel, secretary, and'Ted Albrecht, treasurer. The senior play, Best Foot Forward fa Broadway hitj feauring Jackey Van Hattum, Nate Slack, Bonnie Warber, Bob Yackels, Torn Kraai, and Maurice Reed, was presented on March 9 and 10 and was a smashing success. The supporting cast was composed of Esther Carlyon, Judy Chadwick, Bill May- croft, Barbara Waldmiller, Roger Bullock, Eugene Yakes, Connie Sampanes, Max Heu- velhorst, Berdan Peck, Orville Hoxie, and Mary Louise Lettinga.

Students as ingenuous as Ted Albrecht are rare. Ted was business manager of the senior play, treasurer of the senior class, and a member of the Bars and Chevrons and Science Clubs. Barbara Alderink was a member of the Courtesy Squad, junior Revue, Library, junior Girl Reserves, and A.B. Clubs. Courtesy Squad, A.B. Club, Senior Girl Reserves, were among the organizations to which june Allen belonged, along with committee work on the senior play and junior Revue. Her bubbling personality and twinkling smile made Pearl Banks everybody's pal. Pearl was in the Junior Revue, Girls' Meet, Student Council, Amicitia, and Spanish Clubs. Choir, Orchestra, Courtesy Squad, as well as mem- bership in Latin Club, A.B. Club, and Senior Girl Reserves, helped to keep Juanita Bard busy. Juan's special interest was music. Anna Barker who was in the Junior Revue, A.B. Club, and Junior Honor Society, proved that good posture is attractive. Annie was neither absent nor tardy for two years. Juanita Barnhart was one of those rare girls whose special interest was home economics. Juanita was active in debate and the Hiker's Club. Genial Gus Beuker participated in the activities of choir, debate, junior Revue, Courtesy Squad, Senior Ushers, Saga Staff, O.P.C., Latin Club, Bars and Chevrons, and was a Cadet Captain in the R.O.T.C. A prominent member of the class was Jack Bos, ac- tive in the band, orchestra, junior Revue, Junior Ama- teur Show, and Senior Honor Society. Jack was Cadet Colonel of the R.O.T.C. and president of Bars and Chevrons. A spirited athlete, Burt Brown was captain of the '44 track team and a much valued member of the football team. He also belonged to the C Club, Hi-Y, Courtesy Squad, and took part in the junior Revue and helped with the senior play. A striking girl with a rare sense of humor was jean Brown. Jean was a R.O.T.C. sponsor for three years and a member of the Hikers, and Bars and Chevrons Clubs. Fun-loving Marolyn Carol Brown found interest in participation in the activities of the Senior Girl Re- serves, Hiker's Club, and Spanish Club of which she was president. She was a senior play usher. If you are in search of an all-round good fellow, you'll find him in Robert Bruinsma. A loyal friend, Bob belonged to the Hi-Y, Camera Club, and Courtesy Squad, appeared in the junior Revue, and was on a committee for the senior play. Always ready to help was Loren Brunsink, who was on the stage crew for both junior Revue and the senior play. He ' belonged to the Courtesy Squad, Science Club, Spanish Club, and the Hi-Y. A loyal friend to have was Marilyn Buck who sang in the Glee Club, was on the Courtesy Squad, and in the Senior Girl Reserves. An ambitious guy and a super stage manager was Roger Bullock. Badge was on the Courtesy Squad, tennis team, in the senior play. and was a member of the Hi-Y and Science Clubs. Reserved Carl Bulson's interest in sports is shown by his belonging to the track team. He was president of the C Club, and served on the Courtesy Squad. A nice girl and a hard worker was Elizabeth Byker. Liz was in the Junior Revue, one-act plays, Senior Girl Reserves, AB., Library, Spanish, Student Council, and Footlights Clubs. 4 , J' . 1, .
