Some of the places at which the choir appeared are as follows: Civic Auditorium, Central High School, Holland, P. T. A. Ban- quet, Radio Station WLAV, Rotary Clulv meeting, Insurance Company, Michigan In- dustrial Education Society, Community Chest, Lions Cluh, School Mens Business Associa- tion, Central Reformed Church, the Shrine Patrol, and the Kiwanis Club. W.. ,c....... -,. M, , .. These appearances were so favorably re- ceived that Frank Sparks, editor of the Grand Rapids Herald, honored the choir with his complete column on the editorial page. To accent their musical performances, the choir purchased new blue choir rolves with gold stoles. In order to pay for their new apparel, they put on a concert featuring the Philharmonic Quartet of Chicago. Again in the annual Creston music con- cert in the spring, the Choir played an im- portant part on the program. offering several selections. . ..:.. 4.-hp-. . .-tv I2 sn Fair rate' C.irl,r,i Pl'-ure. Studying all types of music, the girls sing in quartets or trios each month to gain in independence. lt is from these small groups that members for the second choir are selected. Although this is a vocal music organization, it is in the form of a club headed by Eleanor Barnes, president. Other officers are Betty Simons, vice- presidentg and Dorothy Jackman, secretary. Eighty seven voices comprise the newly organized Second Choir. This choir is more than a preparatory organization for the first choirg it is .1 group that works by itself and is capable of taking part in con- certs alone. Members of this choir are recruited from the boys' and girls' glee clubs. They must have registered in glee club and have had some training there. Those who are capable of singing in an advanced group are then selected and placed in the second choir. The second choir made its debut in the annual spring concert with the selections, Ave Marie , by Rachmaninotf, and Land of Hope and Glory , by lflgar.
