National Honor Society This impressive group smiles happily after the initiation of new members to National Honor Society in February, representing five per cent of the Senior class. Those initiated are shown in center as Roger Waltz, left, Judy Wallace, center, and Earl Pottorff, right. Others are, Left to Right: Phillip Spriggs, Dan Herndon, Kay Thomas, -Ioan Wallace and Helenbeth Taylor, who were initiated in May, 1957. There will be a similiar initiation this spring to bring in several iuniors. Members of this organization are selected by students and faculty on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character and service. File Your Complaints Here This is it! This is the actual Crest staff which is responsible for the editing of the book. This group spends a great deal of time planning layouts, assembling pictures and pages and writing headlines and copy. The staff consists of, Standing, Left to Right: Chris Francis, Student Editor: Judy Wallace and Kay Thomas, Promotion arm' Publicity Clouirnzenf Karen Werner, Butinefr Managerg and jim Phillips, Sporty Editor. Seated: Nancy Stowell, Chief Typifl: Joan Wallace, Activities Editor and Editor-in-Clnief.' and Jolene Hayes, Adnzinirtralion- Faculty Editor. The club also helps finance the book through many projects. Besides the numerous selling projects of ads and football programs, the club sponsored two dances. The first, a Halloween dance, made use of skits and side attractions, such as a fortune teller. The Sweetheart Dance held court for Bonnie Towns, the Sweetheart, who received a complimentary yearbook as a prize. Three staff members, joan Wallace, Karen Werner, and Jolene Hayes, accompanied Miss Cross to Atlantic early last fall to hear speakers and see model yearbooks. 29
