Dedication Spirit of Adventure This yearbook is dedicated to the Spirit of Adventure, and to all you who live intimately with this Spirit. In the name of the Spirit of Adventure, We, the crea- tors of this yearbook, beseech you to advance into the World, knowing full well its pitfalls, yet with courage and open mind. Be not afraid to voice your opinions, to trust in your judgment, and be careful to keep above the humdrum, narrow existence of those who deprive themselves relations with the Spirit of Adventure. jforeword EX Gireasure Chest of 'lmemories Our ship, the Creston High School, has been navigated and crewed by the faculty and student body. XVith her decks full of outstanding activities, she has Weathered all crises in her year long voyage. Our noble vessel hoisted anchor late in August and has now accomplished her mission. The treasure chest of memories is full, and now the lid is open with its contents awaiting the eyes of all. The Crest is the treasure chest, so let's explore it. We find in our memories the respect We held for the Admiralty, and the friend- ship for our classmates, Mutineersg the juniors, Foc's'cle Crewg the sophomores, Deck Hands, and the freshmen, Cabinboys. Wie remember too the extracurricular activities which helped alleviate the mono- tony of repetition. There were musical fetes, Nautical Notes, the drama of plays seen on Starboard. The Buccaneers furnished, us with excitement during football, basketball, track and golf raids. Oh yes, we honored our kings and queens, the Booty, and none will forget our glorious dances and parties, along with the enjoyable assembly programs presented by talented personnel. 'We joined and supported the Brotherhood of Pirates- various clubs and organizations, all designed to interest groups of us. And finally, in keeping an accurate account of our complete voyage, we were aided by the Keepers of the Log, reporters and photographers who not only kept val- uable records, but informed all those on board of important happenings in our small sphere. NVe have fully introduced you to this curious, magical chest. Now all you have to do is flip a page, and you'll be confronted with images and memories xvhich no brain could recall and produce with such authenticity. 1 in -Ls.- wi 1 'ff' 2 7 I T' '?,1f' T gf-N if ' V 1 -Ti -IS1 1 ' -31' I i I. VV. EARL HARMON, PRINCIPAL A shy smile and a deep voice. The man behind these attributes is W. Earl Harmon, Creston high school principal. Much as the captain of a ship, Mr Har- mon guides both ship and crew through the hazardous channels safely. At the end of his third year in Creston, Mr. Harmon has made marked changes in the high school, and each change has added to the smooth way in which the school is run. A helpful counselor, Mr. Harmon is ever available to give advice or talk over a fri- endly. problem. BURTON R. JONES, SUPERINTENDENT With a friendly word for all, our consci- entious superintendent can be seen looking in on a class at any time. Busy as he may be, the superintendent of all the Creston public schools nevertheless takes a wide in- terest in the students. An eflicient organizer, Superintendent Jones carries out his responsibilities with the understanding and insight of 21 years of experience here. J . .A.5:2'5:2S: Qzfgfzfzfzfzgz-.
