'QF' 1 ijaauffy GERALD VAN ARKEL Mr. Van Arkel teaches history in high school and coaches junior college athletics. He received his B.A. de- gree at Central College and his MA degree at Drake University Before coming to Creston last year he taught at Garden Grove Huxley and Earlham When not busy teaching and coaching Junior college basketball Mr Van Arkel enjoys reading and gardening RUTH VAN TRESS As school librarian Miss Van Tress does a wonderful Job of keeping the books in order Miss Van Tress re celved her B A degree from the Unlver sity of Iowa and '1 library certificate from the University of Minnesota She has been llbrarlan at Trenton Mo Travelse City Mich and Sault St Marie Mich At one tlme she planned to be an opera smger or a Wfltel JESSIE VANZEE United States history and government are taught by Miss Vanzee She obtained her B A degree at Central col lege in Pella Iowa and her M A degree at the State Uni versity of Iowa Miss Vanzee has had teaching experience at Tipton and Creston Once Miss Vanzee thought of be coming an official interpreter HOWARD C WILLIAMS Our Biology teacher Mr Williams obtained his B A degree from William Penn College He did graduate worl at Harvard Graduate School Mr Williams has held teach ing posltlons at Carson Whiting and Creston Mr Wil hams was once a coach and thinks it s a dog s life He has held several lnterestmg Jobs such as working in the Cleve land slums interior and exterior decorating and teaching swimming DORIS GREEN Mrs Green IS the Creston public schools nurse Her duties include caring for bruises and bandagmg wounds She took her tralmng at Mlssourl Methodist Hospital in St Joseph MISSOUTI She also studied at George Peabody s College for Teachers in Tennessee In her spare time she cares for several white rats which belong to the high school
