A Hivtuphnr tn iinur Hartz Spusc, 1914 lhe eeds w ere planted rn the fall wrth many mrsgrvrngs rn the hearts of fond parents and firmly started on their new career by b mg patted otherwrse ltnown as caresses It was thought that rt would be very pleasant weather but rn thrs we were rrrlstalven for as the seeds were berrrg patted many squalls and ramstorms not to mentron the cyclones caused hy vrolent dr turbances of the atmosphere came upon us However after all thrngs whrch retarded our progress w re removed we small green thrngs made a lr h tart People generally disagreed as to what lund of plants we were Old r weed n tae same garden declared without farl that we were cabbage heads but they soon ch nged tlselr mrnds Part of the plants considered themselves peaches and many dates were scattered about promrscuously qeveral roses w ere drscerned though they soon developed thorns A few forget me nots and pears drstrngurshed themselves by playrng mth the date famrlv One lonesome plant by constant as ocratron wrth a lemon seed became a lke frurt The corn early became noted for rts large ears w hrch pr sumablv heard everythrng rt should not have heard and nothrng rt should lhe potato was of the lrrsh varrety and alw rvs lvept its eyes pealed so became generally lcncwn as a go I Some time rn the middle of the sea on the plants were transplanted to a newer and nrc r garden At first rt w as thought that some would not be able to tand the shock but at noon of that dav a fo mrdable cloud appeared on the horizon and they all freshened up con rderably lhe plants were all delrghted to see the bright un thougv a few wer unable to wrthstand the penetratrnv and therefore drred up lhe tronger on s lamented greatly but oon gave themselves wholly to grow mg The plants were verv socrablv mclrned at thrs trrre Cn on partrcular occasron they w ere carrred tow ard the home of the showers However thrs very rrrport nt part of the entertarnment farled to appear and t e flowers became so wrthered and so late rn arrrvmg home that they were unable to hold up then heads for several days The plants were not nearly so green now and the weeds rn the same garden had decrded to qurt bothermg them after many lessons rn manners and value of not meddllng The workmen rn the garden were very careful rn the manner rn whrch the plants grew They carefully w eeded out everythmg that would hrnder the progre s and mal-ce them les leautrful Every one who vrsrted the gard n remarked on the leautv and splendld appearance of this sectron even golng so far as to addres themselves rn odes e pecrallv composed for our ben ht Pl he gardener hnally decrded that out growth had caused u to advance so rapldlv that the majorrty of plants w ere ready to be transplanted to another part of tlse garden Al mms n flee garderers here were much more particular than the others had been The plants were drvrded rnto sectrons according to their own wrshe Some con rdered them selves worthy to be advanced to many larger gardens and some of the other began httrnff hemselves to tram smaller plants to become strong enough to grow rn a garden ot then own l here w as also a period of 1 hanlssgrvrng tl rs season rn whrch the plants were exc ed rngly thankful they had been of the stronger ones who survrved the flrst sea on of heavv ralns and the hot rays of the summer sun , Q 5 Q 1 - V V.
