bauer presents the senior gift to mr. holland i I8 class colors wine and white class flower orchid class motto peace is not made in documents, but in the hearts of men l 965 closs prophecy while doing spring cleaning at the lockers at c.h.s. we came across a crystal ball in the bottom of one. we took a look to see what the class of 1965 will be doing twenty years from now. in xandu, we saw don rowland accompanying his dancing fleas on the trumpet. holding the flaming hoop for the grand finale was j'unior armstrong. bill grim, an illustrious pet shop owner donated the provisions for the fleas to the chief trainer, mark speelman, also known as the lord of the fleas. suddenly this scene faded before our incredulous eyes and we beheld still another sight. in an african village we saw a mass rally of the humane society demonstrating against tigers attacking elephants. carrying a sign saying, help save our elephants was nancy kindle, followed by barb middleton, emily tridico, and harold ady. those favoring more direct action by coloring stripes on the elephants to disguise them were larry sesco, bob britton, and karon emig. deep in thejungle we were confronted by that notorious head hunter, tom meldg-n. trying to capture him was kathy haag and judy cordrey, great protectors of law and order. just as they were about to catch him, the scene changed to a movie set a cowboy show. starring was that bad man richard bauer, and his gang of outlaws, including dave connor, malcolm webster, and dick crissingg. close behind was the posse, led by dave fisher, followed by charlie Waddell, and dan stanovich. in an old western town, russell ellenberger was drinking in linda del greco's saloon. behind the bar was lee quail. this picture faded and we came to shaw azizi's kingdom in supercalifragilisticexpialidocius. in the throne room we saw jerry adams, the court jester and john liberti, the minister in charge of the harem, including jeanette hale, adele pearl, ann rieman, and pam douglas. in a nearby desert, knitting booties for the tree toads and sitting under an extinct palm tree were maxine hall and georgiajclever. joyce kirby, a notorious scientist had been ban- ished from the land because of her experiment which hadmade these palm trees extinct. we found ourselves in a large legislature where dan page was trying to pass an amendment on the law of gravity. opposing this bill was the distinguished lady lawyer, bemie anatra. the stenographer linda shephard, who insisted on taking notes in hieroglyphics. tony hohenbrink was petitioning for a home for misplaced earthworms. suddenly the crystal ball showed us a scene in paris. at a sidewalk cafe, we saw can-can girls joan gordon, kay thomas, and bonnie hodges. in the distance we were astonished to see joe weiss, and tom creel and andy moses trying to spray the eiffel tower chartruese. on the other side, trying to paint it with pink and blue stripes, were becky maples, phyllis saxton, and marion anderson. there was a circus in town and manicuring the nails of the gorilla was tom garrett. jack arbestos fletcher was featured as the flame eater. on the tight rope was that daring team of judy holwager and bill sheehan, doing the watusi on the high wire while balancing a glass of water on their noses. in the next block, the celebrated poet, eddie solinger was having a party for his success. the climax of the evening was when a huge cake was wheeled in and jeanne ayers sprang from the center of it. a prominent guest at the party was cindy von berg, author of the book goldfoot. she has become known as ian fleming the second. alas, this scene faded too from our eyes and another one appeared before us. we saw that we were on the north pole where sara pegram and renee campbell were running a school for orphaned polar bears. an expedition led by tom glauer passed by looking for proof that there really is a santa claus. this short scene wisked us away to the bottom of the ocean where we saw terri mathews and kathy bumpus gathering materials for a do it yourself seaweed kit. also down there were skip rox and tom maxwell looking for charlie, the tuna fish. a submarine under the direction of jenny stark and her crew member, janice myers, passed us looking for a place to set up a new colony on the ocean bottom. in the submarine was a newspaper with gy stefle's name and picture on it. she had been trying to scale mt. everest on roller skates. after making us sea sick, the picture changed to an elegant restaurant where the famous chefs, fritz howe and jim milligan were passing out their favorite recipes written on toilet paper. nearby, bruce dotson was adjusting big ben to a 61 112 minute hour. below mike wachtel and dee dee forshaw were singing rock and roll songs back- wards in an attempt to become famous. ted reed, an unconventional barber who used a lawn mower instead of scissors was sneaking up on them in an effort to cut mike's and dee dee's long locks which made him nervous. next the scene shifted to the moon where we saw lynn thompson crocheting multi-colored doilies and selling them door to door. down the street we saw a sign for betty barkers and ruth biglin's baby sitting service for pet aardvarks. all at once, johnny pearl seed tesso strolled into sight. he had been traveling the countryside plant- ing pearls wherever he went. stringing along were eileen beam and henri lou bostic, underworld villains, who dug up the pearls and sold them to those black market racketeers, chuck adkins and tom skovvronski. once again the scene shifted to good old earth, and we saw emie fuson sitting on top of a flag pole in his campaign for goldwater. trying to shake him down were joyce yerkey and eddie moyer. dale thorg passed by blowing soap bubbles. sneaking up behind him was that notorious bean-shooter, dave bullseye klopfenstein. next the crystal ball took us to siberia where we saw dan engard working in the salt mines for tying his shoe with his right hand. whipping him with cold wet spaghetti was tom fawcett. pouring tomato sauce over the whip were jenny adams and sharon emig. screaming that they forgot the mushrooms was barb morrow. in the nearby valley of the jolly green giant, becky barile was picking peas. standing next to her was ling who was working on a chemical formula to make the sun rise in the west. in the next garden chuck conrad was watering his plastic flowers while dave sauers was planting ping pong balls to see what would come up. we learned that chuck krichbaum, bill britton and jim marshall had been banned to outer space for trying to convert the atlantic ocean -to kool-aid. well, it looks like the class of 1965 has a booming future, because all of this activity was too much for the crystal ball. it exploded in our hands! Twelve years of learning lie behind. But your education is not finished . . . it is just beginning. Yesterday's lessons won't fit all of tomorrow's problems. New discoveries will disprove some of the theories you've been taught. Technological ad- vancement will create new ways and methods for doing things. The most important thing you've learned is HOW to learn. From now on you'l1 be getting your education from reality. Your grades won't be on a re ort card' they'll be points for--or from--your success. P 1 Ohio Seamless joins your family and other friends with congratulations and encouragement.
