31 1 1 THE ADVOCATE STAFF ' r The Crestline High School Advocate Staff is an organization which gathers the news cf, and about C.H.S. and puts it into print each week onpa page of the town newspaper, The Advocate. To the staff it means opportunities to learn journalism. For the other students the publications cf news offers a chance to read, and have a record of activities in which they are interested. Aside from printing the news, the staff this year successfully conducted a defense stamp sale each week. They Joined a nation wide school campaign and in the early weeks of the campaign sold enough defense stamps to furnish three Jeeps for the United States Army. ' A' Much of the credit for a successful year is due to the competent work of Mrs. Millar, the advisor. The Editor-in-chief this year is Janet Gresmer. Editor of Who's Who and other special articles is Evelynne Fleiner. Robert Tracht is editor of all sports activities. General reporters are: Kay Forman, Mary Lou O'Heron, Phyllis Ann Thomas, Ruth Paynter, Pam Guinup, Nancy Neff and Jacqueline Brandt.

1 Qizfs ' -Qfifefic uociation GIRLS ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION - . The Girls Athletic Association was founded in 1955 to promote an in terest in athletic activities. The object of the Girls Athletic Association is to develop good sportsmanship, to promote good fellowship and sports, and to cultivate a healthy mind by proper living and beneficial exercises Miss Jane Pease is advisor of this organization and the officers elected for the year 1943-1944 were: Norene Harley, president, Marcine Earner, vice-presidentg and Norma Gilchrist, secretary-treasurer. Horene Harley and Marcine Harner resigned their offices of president and vice president, due to the fact that they became employed and could not do justice to the offices to which they had been elected. To fill these vacancies Virginia Lightburn was elected president, and Priscilla McCaffrey was elected as vice-president. 1 32 r TAQ Afafionaf -Honor .goclefy NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The purpose of the National Honor Society is to stimulate scholarship among students, to create a desire to serve one's school and community faithfully, to promote loyal pupil citzen- ship, and to develop exemplary qualities of character. To be eligible for membership a pupil must have spent at least one year in the school electing such pupil. Twice yearly names of the Juniors and Seniors who are in the upper fourth of the class are submitted to the teachers for election. The members of the class of '44 who have been elected are: Jean Beals, Robert Anderson, Richard Arter, Mary Anne Trimble, Margery Poffenbaugh, Mary Poffenbaugh, Permelia Saum, Milton DeJean, and Richard Emmera ' y The motto of this organization is--Ncolesse Oblige, colors White and Gold, the flower--Marquerite. '
