Cyan vffisfovy 4 The Senior Class of 1944 began their high school career when the members en- tered old C.H.S. in September 1959. At a class meeting early in the year they elected their officers for the following months as follows: president, Permelia Saumg vice-president, Mary Poffenbaughg secretary, Mildred Teetrlckg treasurer, June Gehrisch. This school year was characterized by the Talent Show which they presented in the spring of the year. In their Sophomore year the class chose their class colors, maroon and gray. They selected Richard Arter to act as president of the class. Other members of. the official group were Margery Poffenbaugh, vice-president and Bernice Smarto, secretary-treasurer. The only outstanding activities for this year was the spon- soring of several movies at the local theaters. The class spent their junior year in preparation for the Junior-Senior Recep- tion which was their responsibility for the year. Under the leadership of their Advisors, Betty Chester, Mrs. Earl Hetrick, and Mr. Cleo Donaldson, the class chose their officers on whose shoulders would rest the burden of the Reception. There were Lowell Kindinger, presidentg Richard Em er, vice-president: Janet Gresmer, secretary and Annette Hoffman, treasurer. They followed the usual cus- tom of caring for the Concession Stand at the athletic field during the season'a football games. This year also the class sponsored movies at the local theaters. In April of this year they began to prepare for the reception and spent many long hours making the decorations. On May 26 of 1943 they said their farewell to the departing seniors of '45 at a banquet and a dance in 'an old Dutch garden.' In September of 1945 the fifty-five members of the senior class began their final year. For the first time in five years an annual is to be published, with Mary Poffenbaugh as editor-in-chief. The officers for this year are Margery Poffenbaugh, president: Donald Simmermacher, vice-presidentj Lois Fisher, secretary and Richard Emmer, treasurer. In May of 1944 the seniors will be the guests of the juniors at a reception, and then on the following Friday, they will file down the aisle to receive their diplomas and bid farewell to old C.H.S.
