At a class meeting early in the year they elected their officers for the following months as follows: president, Permelia Saumg vice-president, Mary Poffenbaughg secretary, Mildred Teetrlckg treasurer, June Gehrisch. This school year was characterized by the Talent Show which they presented in the spring of the year. In their Sophomore year the class chose their class colors, maroon and gray. They selected Richard Arter to act as president of the class. Other members of. the official group were Margery Poffenbaugh, vice-president and Bernice Smarto, secretary-treasurer. The only outstanding activities for this year was the spon- soring of several movies at the local theaters. The class spent their junior year in preparation for the Junior-Senior Recep- tion which was their responsibility for the year. Under the leadership of their Advisors, Betty Chester, Mrs. Earl Hetrick, and Mr. Cleo Donaldson, the class chose their officers on whose shoulders would rest the burden of the Reception. There were Lowell Kindinger, presidentg Richard Em er, vice-president: Janet Gresmer, secretary and Annette Hoffman, treasurer. They followed the usual cus- tom of caring for the Concession Stand at the athletic field during the season'a football games. This year also the class sponsored movies at the local theaters. In April of this year they began to prepare for the reception and spent many long hours making the decorations. On May 26 of 1943 they said their farewell to the departing seniors of '45 at a banquet and a dance in 'an old Dutch garden.' In September of 1945 the fifty-five members of the senior class began their final year. For the first time in five years an annual is to be published, with Mary Poffenbaugh as editor-in-chief. The officers for this year are Margery Poffenbaugh, president: Donald Simmermacher, vice-presidentj Lois Fisher, secretary and Richard Emmer, treasurer. In May of 1944 the seniors will be the guests of the juniors at a reception, and then on the following Friday, they will file down the aisle to receive their diplomas and bid farewell to old C.H.S. At this time it consisted of twelve play- ers who were clad in white uniforms. The next year the musicians appeared in blue coats which served for the following seven years. In 1954 the band members wore for the first their present day uniforms of royal blue'tr1mmed in white, which have won great praise and distinction for the players in the past ten years. ' The organization has been very active in the last few years, with the'exception of this year..Lack of activity this year was due to the shortage of gas and tires.. The hand has furnished music for local affairs, and participated in patriotic celebrations. The Crestline High School Band owes its success to Maurice Davis who has spent the last eighteen years in making it an educational and successful organization. - The officers of the Band are June Gehrisch, presidentg Pete Frye, vice-presidentg Dick Ackerman, Librarian: Lowell Kindinger and Mary Anne Trimble, student directors. Hill came to Crestline in 1940 as a science teacher. Due to the fact that Coach Hhtson was called to serve for Uncle Sam, Mr. H111 ac- cepted the position of Coach. Even though Mr. H111 has had very little experience in coaching basket- ball and football, he has done remark! ably well. We are very happy to have such a grand person in place of Coach Hutsonm ' ASSISTANT COACH Assistant Coach Donaldson, more affectionately known as nTeach,n came to Crestline in 1957. Not long after the start of football' he volunteered to coach the Junior High boys the fundamentals of the game and prepare them for when they become eligible for the varsity. When basket ball season came around he took over the job of ' coaching the reserves and has achieved an enviable record in names won and lost for the reserves. lst Row- Mgr.
