L I V CLASS PROPHECY The other nlght as I was slttmg ln my blq easy chatr the famxllar strams of To Each Hrs Own came over the radxo Hearlng the song took me back ten years to the llttle Indxan vlllage Rlght then and there I declded to go back to the vlllage and see what the members of the Trlbe of 47 were domg The next day when the tram puffed mto the statlon I was surprxsed to see that the Indlan vlllage had grown 1nto a modern town I took a cab wh1ch was drlven by Wllllam Pellfer to the Hotel Blg Chxef wh1ch was ow ned by Pat Karns Workmg at the hotel as a hostess was Helen Fessler I went to the desk to regxster and found that Glenn Snyder was the chlef clerk Later the bellhop brought up my luggage Imagme my surprlse when I saw xt was Harry Pelfferl Then I declded to call a beauty shoppe and have my halr set I looked ln the telephone dlrectory and saw the Happy Squaw Beauty Shoppe owned and operated by Dorothy Mlller and her two very capable asslstants Dorls Butz and Sylv1a Commmgs That nlght when I entered the hotels ballroom I heard the wonderful IHLISIC of Lane Rlland and h1s orchestra The head wa1ter Lewls Dando found me a very good table The waltress who took my order looked very famnllar I asked my escort who she was and he told me xt was Elame Clauser He also told me that two more of my classmates were also waxtresses namely Arlene Darcas and Betty Brommer The next day I declded to tour the town My flrst stop was the Publlc Llbrary There I had a very pleasant chat wxth Marlon Gerber who was the head llbrarxan From there I went to the Publlc School where I met the supervlslnq prmcxpal Ardlth Laubenstlne After vxsxtmg the school I went to Town Hall and met Mayor Mervln Krammes and Chxef of Police Ronald Laubenstme Mayor Krammes lnvlted me to a lecture wh1ch was gomg to be held Saturday n1ght Rlchard Kreager the Dean of Boys at the State Agr1culture College was to be the speaker By thxs tlme I was so thnrsty I declded to go 1nto the corner drug store for a coke There I met another classmate Gall Moyer who owned the store He told me hls chlef chemlst was Wllllam Lvnch and hls very rellable clerk was Allce Mar berqer After leavlng the drug store I wandered down the street and bumped 1nto erry Becker a very successful busmess woman She told me her buyxng manaqer was Kenneth Blankenhorn I kept gomg down the stree and came to the Medlclne Man Hospltal I decxded I may as well go 1n and see lf I could find any old acqualntances and sure enough I dld Theresa Lewsock was supervlsmg nurse Betty Yoder was head of the chxldren s When I was at Town Hall I met Roy Luckenbxll who IS nn the mlddle of hls campalgn for state senator It was late ln the afternoon so I declded to return to my hotel At the hotel I met Ruth Rlchards who was on tour with a muslcal comedy She was the mam sxnger and dolng a very fine job I retxred early because the next day I wanted to tour the outskxrts of the town Early the next mornxng I took a bus wh1ch was drxven by Nevnn Bremer to the suburb of Wahoo Wahoo There I saw the cutest row of bungalows and much to my amazement I saw that they were occupied by Charlotte Butz une Mlller Lots Sxngley and Frances Zemenclk all happlly marrled As we drove further 1nto the country we came across Fehr s Chicken Farm wh1ch was owned by Charles Fehr Adjolnlng hxs farm was a large danry farm ow ned by Andrew Snyder In hrs employ were oe Reber Corky Yost and Mer lm Krammes who was h1s busmess manager We returned to town from the opposlte dxrec tlon There I saw GU1taS Shoe Factory and thought that xt must be owned by George Guxtas I lnvestngated and lt was I also met Robert Koch his bookkeeper and Ruth Fox h1s prlvate secretary By the tlme I left the factory I was hungry so I headed toward the slgn Shnrley s Home Cookmg I stepped 1ns1de and was greeted by Shlrley Reber She had a thrlvmg busmess In her restaurant enyoylng her cookxng were Melwn Folwenler Ted Moyer and Mxlton Emerlch Melvln told me he was playmg wxth the Redskins and that Mllton was thelr manager Ted was the basketball coach at Slttmg Bull High School When I left Shlr ley s I looked up and saw a busmess school Much to my amazement I dnscovered that Elea nor Collms and Mae Matz were the teachers I returned to my hotel satlsfned that I had found all the members of my class except one Mlldred Galehoff Then as I was leavmg the hotel I went to the desk to pay my b1ll and there was Mlldred the bookkeeper and sten oqrapher of the hotel I returned to my home much satxsfied wnth my experlences nn Trxbe 47 IUNE DIEHL Page Twenty mne ' 1 ll V1 1 1 1 1 1 7 Al Iv I 1 V . . Everyone was costumed as either a farmer or a farmerette. Typical Halloween refreshments were served. Music was furnished by Ken Alexander and his orchestra.
