Class aqfzsfofzy In September 1934 forty four privates enlisted in the Army of C H S These rookies willingly threw themselves Into activities and drills with a real zest and before long were adapted to the army routine The Captain was Mr Charles Stauffer and other officers were Presldent Arlene Butler Vice President Pobert Weaver Secretary Virginia Ley Treasurel Charles Hartman The nrst year wasn t very easy as some were not able to keep up with army discipline and resigned After their first leave and promotion to third class the privates re turned on duty September 1935 Thirty four mllltarists were again settled 1n classes and prepared to workdiligently in their quest for a higher educa tlon This year their Captain was Miss Iva Moyer and company ofiicers as follows President Pobert McClay Vice President Robert Weaver Secre tary Virginia Ley Treasurer Charles Hartman The third class privates took part in practically every army act1v ity and sport Their second leave over twenty five persevering privates reported for drill when September rolled around These second class privates were determined to stop only when their goal was reached Again new officers were elected namely President Robert McC1ay Vice President Robert Weaver Secretary Arlene Butler Treasurer Charles Hartman The Cap tain was Miss Helen Pame Efforts to raise funds were inaugurated and the privates were found selling Every Day Cards making and selling salted peanuts and sponsoring a dance Ped letter events enJoyed by the company were a trip to the Hershey Chocolate Factory the Capitol at Harrisburg and the Farm Show A Farewell Banquet was given the Seniors and later a Junior Prom was sponsored. At last the privates found themselves first class in the army of C. H. S. The goal was nearly leached Twenty-six remained after the less fortunate resigned and others were court martialed. The captain was Mr. Henry Herring and last officers were: President Robert Weaver' Vice President Pobert McClay' Secretary Thelma Miller' Treasurer Charles Hartman. The company successfully operated a booth at the County Fair sold Christmas cards and magazines sponsored dances and a Card and Bingo Party.
