Dreams of four long years have now be- come a reality for the class of 54. We drecuners entered Cresson Ioint High School in the fall of 5U. With the girls in pigtails, dresses worn back- wards, sporting tennis shoes and black stock- ings, cmd the boys wearing makeup and be- decked with jewelry, we were initiated into high school in the fall of 1950. Since those awe-inspiring September days, we have distinguished ourselves by our activ- ity in various fields. First of all, we elected capable officers: Ronald Rickens, president: Raymond Davis, vice-president, Anna Mae Craine, secretary, and Richard Sheridan, treasurer. In the sports department we supplied the football team with players, two of whom earned letters-Ronald Rickens and George Zelenski. Three of our class members-Roger Naylor, Tom Prebish, and Raymond Davis- proved to be eager wrestlers. We had the competent guidance of Mr. Iohn Cassidy and we looked forward to a live- ly year during 1951-52. We entered school in September safely as Sophomores and then got ready to fight our way once more through a new year. To lead us, we chose Robert Price, president: Ronald Rickens, vice-president: Eileen Ivory, secretary, and Carl Herby, treasurer. Our chief money-making project was the selling of magazines, a project which gave our treasury a mighty boost. The Sophomores were not to be out-shown in extracurricular activities either. Out of the Sophomore football players, Iames Boito, Rob- ert Hostler, Ronald Rickens, and George Zelen- ski received letters. Dick Sheridan, one of our ll basketball players, received a letter. We had 8 wrestlers, 7 track candidates, 27 in the girls' chorus, and 15 members in the band. Constance Gettings made the papers by winning the district and county oratorical con- test sponsored by the American Legion. Gerald Boland furthered Sophomore prestige by being named a member of the All-County Band. A hundred and twelve strong, we Juniors had a hand in all school activities. In football We had 11 lettermenp basketball, 4 lettermang and in wrestling, 5 lettermen. In addition we had 20 girls selected as members of the girls' chorus, 20 members of the Powhatan staff and 14 hand members. To end our year successfully, our Iunior Prom was held in the American Legion Ball- room on May 8. We danced to the dreamy music of George Naider and his orchestra. With great finality we entered our Senior year. Again we chose efficient officers to lead our class. Iames Boite, presidentg Ronald Rick- torical Contest for the sec- ond time. The big social event of the senior year final- ly came. On April 24. we held our senior ball and banquet at the Hoffman Hotel. Under Senior direction. Class Day was held on May 21. We oi the Freshman Class have success- fully completed our first year of high-school. We expect to be very successiul in our acti- vities in future years. We got off to a good SlC!l'H this year at an initiation and a party given by the Sophomores. There were many participants in school activities from our class. . . . Nine freshmen played on the Iunior Varsity football squad. . . . We had a very successful Iunior High basketball team in which eleven of our classs mates participated. . . . Connie Reilly, Ioan Powers, Richard Connacher, and Vonda Lee Iudd proved their talents by taking an active part in the senior band. . . . Nadine Koons and Ann Plummer are the two lucky girls who cheered for the Junior Varsity team from this class. . . . Four girls also were on the tumbling team. . . . Owen Horten was a regular wrestler for the Varsity Wrestling team and had a very fine record. .. . Out of eleven intramural wrestling champs, five were from our class. During our first year we had quite a few activities. Our first was a very successful bake sale. The second, a skating party at the Penn Pavilion and finally a dance for Valentine Day at the Moose Hall. Our activities, along with our class dues. provided funds for our treasury. We were ad- vised through the year under the competent direction of Mr. Ioseph Bradley. 3 Above ROW 1: ROW 2: ROW 3: Below ROW 1: ROW 2: ROW 3: W. Conrad, A. Nepa, E. Dale, I.. Rickens, I.. Krug, M.
