The Spartans played their best game in defeat as the powerful conference champs, Charles City, pounded out a 13-0 victory on a cold October night, The Spar- tans gained almost as much yardage as Charles City but could never quite punch the tally over. Bob Albertson was the difference as the speedy halfback ac- counted for more than half the Charles City total. Decorah caught Cresco with their Charles City defenses down, After piling up a 7-O first half lead the Spartans folded completely and lost to the Vikings 28- 7, Decorah scored every time it got the ball in the second half. The defeat cost the Spartans a tie for third place, The Spartans finished the same way they started--with a proverbial bang. The Oelwein Huskies were the victims in a wild 41-27 ball game, The victory was only the second in history for the Spartans over the Huskies, Bob Ratcliff A Q' Ba k ,r 'i ' A C p p.ii'Qnvi J I Lee Sill ' ' ,, r My Back i Lowell Sovereign A Guard A my ji 9 Y, . il Q' 'na- is ,W X - 5 t sais 'ff is 4 gifs s Q .
