IN DULIIET STRAINS Learnmg to appreciate good music as well as to make it is the value ot partlci pation in the vocal and instrumental departments in C H S The marching band and pep band clad in snappy new umtorms gave a cheery atmosphere to the football and basketball games wrestling meets and assemblies this year The other mustc groups and soloists were kept busy during the year playing and singing at various programs and presenting the annual tall and spring concerts The music contest is always the climax ot the work ot the year The Preliminary State Music Contest was held at Cresco April 5 and 6 The hrst ratlngs received by Cresco were Girls Glee Club Orchestra Band Brass Ruth Ann Lowry prccolo Marilyn Wentworth mezzo soprano Betty Ann Evans soprano solo First ratmgs tor the state will be awarded at the contest to be held in lnde pendence this year Cresco s first ratings at the State Contest last year were received by Ruth Ann Lowry flute solo Betty Ann Evans soprano solo Laurel Hatch mezzo soprano solo and the boys quartet Much credit should go to Miss Lease and Mr Lysing vocal and instrumental instructors tor their tireless efforts in training the musicians in C H S 25 I I - f Y , . , . , . i i i 1 i I i A f i Quartet, Girls' Sextet, Lester Fields, cornet solo, Thomas Dvorak, bass clarinet, t l f A , ' ' i 1 I i r i 1 ' f ' .
