Oh Qocztor Not until the two glee clubs, under the direction of Miss Helen Ball, presented an operetta on November 19, have we witnessed Such a musical since 1932. Miss Ball's production was a two-act musical comedy entitled Oh, Doc-tor written by Estelle Marymzn Clark and Palmer John Clark, The list of characters were: Steve Puffer, Betty Howard. Marjorie Parchman. Richard Myers, Thomas George, Darrel Payne, Leonard Slifka. Margery Terry, Mary Jane Burr. Betty Ann Elmquist, Phyllis Wenger, John Tlusty. Harold Powers, Raphael Chihak, Dale Fagner, Jack Preston, Phyllis Darby and Leonard Brcghammer. Much credit is due the production staff, who helped to make the operetta not only an enjoyable entertainment, but also a valuable musical experience. The staff consisted of Faye Stingley, dancing: Valdemar Johnson. rrcliestrag Shirley Davis, accompanistg Mrs. Valde- mar Johnson, nxake-up: and Betty Ann Elmquist, properties.

If lived Calzorus The mixed chorus was chosen this y'ear from the two glee clubs and was composed of thirty-five members. Its first appearance was in the vocal concert on March ll, at which time, accr mpanied by Emily DeNoyelles, they sang Lift Thine Eyes, Lo, a Voice to Heaven Sounding and Spirit Flower, with the soprano solo in the latter sung by Mary Jane Burr. Using these songs as contest numbers, they participated in the sub-district cc ntest at Charles City and won first place and the eligi- bility to compete in the district contest at Waterloo, where they re- ceived an excellent rating. The mixed quartette consisting of Mary Jane Burr. Phyllis Wen- ger. Robert Mitchell, and Harold Powers did remarkable work at the contests. In both the sub-district and the district contest they received a superior rating, entitling them tri take part in the state contest at Irwa City where they received a rating of excellent. Their selections were: YVhere my Caravan Has Restedu and As Torrents in Summer. The final appearance of the vocal groups will bc during com- mencement week. thus ending a year of profitable study and experi- ence.
