Members of the 'two organizations br-ought back seven firsts from the sub-district contest at Charles City: girls, glee club, mixed chorus, girls' sextette, male quartette, mixed quartette, soprano solo, and bass solo. At the district contest, the mixed quartette won first place and the eligibil- ity to compete in the state contest at Iowa City. The 1932 May Fete. celebrating the George Washington Bicentennial, was pre- sented in the form of a pageant, under the direction of Miss Mary Schmidt, and Miss Sarah Moore. Ervin Upton, as George Washington, was Lord of May, and Ruth Con- nolly, portraying the character of Washington's wife, Martha, was the Queen of May. The Girls' Athletic Association has approximately fifty members this year. At the end of last school year, five chevrons- three numerals, three scond chevrons, one third chevron, and one letter, were awarded. Approximately twice as many awards will be given this year. Officers are: Lola Daskam, president: Wilma Mitchell, vice president: Mary Thomson, secretaryg Mary Kakac, trcasurerg Janet Dro-llinger, Julia.
