They played Schubert's Unfinished Symphony for their selective number in the contest, and received a rating of excellent. They have given two public con- certs and played for class plays. The junior orchestra, composed of twenty-five members, will give a concert this spring. This serves as a training ground for the high school orchestra. Free private lessons are given to all members of the band and orchestra every other semester from the time they start until they complete high school. Both the band and orchestra have been under the able leadership of Mr. Pope- joy for four years. They played Orpheus in der Unterweldtn by Offenbacli, for their selecitve number in the contest, and received a rating of good. Cresco had thirteen instrumental entries in the sub-district contest this year, of whom five won and entered the district contest. Harold Normann, oboe, and Marian Lybbert, clarinet, received ratings of excellent at the district. The brass sextet, clarinet quartet, and Lester DeNoyelles, on French horn were rated good. Competition was the keenest it has ever been. The band gave two concerts, and played for all games. They made a fine appear- ance in new uniforms, consisting of capes, colored black and lined with old rose, and caps. Boys' Club For the past year the Boys' Club has been carrying on a somewhat curtailed program. Because of general conditions, it was thought best 'to reduce the number of meetings. In spite of all this, the club has had a successful year: the quality of the programs was better, the turnouts were almost one hundred per cent, and the food was there in quantities. One meeting was devoted mainly to football. The climax of the year was at the joint Boys' and Girls' Club meeting.
