I remember what it was like to be new here. The school seemed a little bigger then, though I never admitted, it was a lot scarier. I remember searching hallways filled with unfamiliar faces. I kept hoping to find someone to share my confusion with. I always had a great feeling when someone smiled. I wondered how I was going to fit into this huge super so' histicated cam- pus. Now I wonder why I was worried. The confidence came, and so did the learning and fun. I loved the teachers. What I remember most of all are the good friends I made here. There were times when we won together and lost together. Times when we worried, and times when we celebrated together. How do you ever say thank you for all the beautiful memories? I remember autumn when all the excitement in the world flashed between two goal posts. The winters warm with the glow of our holiday spirit. Springtimes that dazzled us with the poems of freedom, and long summer vacations. Not doing anything was our favorite group activity. Looking back, I'm amazed that so many and crazy colorful things filled my life at Crescent Junior High School. The real-key fo 'our fufure lies infyfhe youn people of our p counfry. f 99 .QN XX si . S ...W a E The 8th grade students proved to themselves that they were Free To Be by showing their spirit in selling magazine subscriptions, participating in Spirit Week activities, and attending the school dances and assemblies. The students are very proud to go down in the history of Crescent Junior High School as the eighth grade that took part in our countrys' Bicentennial Celebration . Free To Be You're free to be where you want at sunrise. A11 day long you can be you to do as you please. You are free to be where you want to be at sunset when the world is quiet and calm. You're free to be where you want at nightfall when the stars shine bright in the night. Whereever you are, whatever you do, remember always, You are free to be you. They outsold the 8th and 9th grade classes in the magazine drive, and participated one hundred percent in Spirit Week activities. The first week of school the seventh graders ran helplessly around not knowing where any of their classes were. In time they grew in awareness. Some of the seventh graders shock- ingly discovered the ninth grade quad, but in two more years they can show a seventh grader the quad in Crusader spirit. Freedom Freedom is a breath of air, pine scented, or salty like the sea: Freedom is a field, new plowed furrows of democracy. Freedom is a forest, trees tall and straight as man. Freedom is a printing press, the power of the pen. Freedom is a counl try church, a cathedral's stately'spire. Freedom is a spirit that can set the soul on fire. Freedom is the pulsebeat of humanity, the throb of a nation's heart. What together can we do for the freedom of man?
