But repeat as champions they did. as the i980 Bees came back from an opening-game loss to win eight of nine games and claim the Western League crown. Displaying total team effort, this team emerged as the league's top defensive team. Led by Co-captain Eric Baker's outstanding shooting, Co-captain Darnell Johnson's leadership S passing and Sophomore Mac Osborne's rebounding, the Bees also benefited from Juniors Barry Wooden. Alfred Kelley, Chris Pruitt, Derryl Hollier 8 Joe Bruce, plus Sophomores Charles London. Darryl Ogden, Kenneth Strode, Gary Nettles Cour enforcerj, Kevin Finister S Andre Spencer. Each one contributed greatly, and each received his championship trophy. MVP's were seniors Eric Baker S Darnell Johnson, along with Mark Osborne they were named All-League. Charles London was Most lmproved S Chris Pruitt Most Inspirational. Congratulations to all on a fine championship season. - Coach Jack Novick

They were led by guards Co-Captains Earl Patterson E: Norman Brown, center Edward Perry, Forwards Rod Thomas 8 Curtis Harding. Bruce Rucker. Russell Moore, Aaron Terry, Alan Bloodsaw, Victor Trammell and Kevin Johnson also contributed greatly to the team's outstanding success. Patterson was tops in scoring and assists, while Edward Perry led in rebounds. Western League player of the year Patterson was MVP, Thomas 8 Harding was Most Improved and Norman Brown Most Inspirational. They and Perry made All-League second team.
