They just weren't in Crenshaw's league. The whole district was re-leagued in i979 in order to create more balanced competition. As a result, only Palisades and Venice remained on Crenshaw's schedule as fellow members of the new 4A Division's League C. Another reason for the new arrangement is to promote integration in sports. lt gives schools the chance to play teams from different cultural backgrounds. So from now on the Cougars will get to play Bell and South Gate from the southeast area and Wilson from the east. This releaguing was made only for interscholastic football.
