Homecoming week, with its theme — American Folklore — saw mythical characters, such as Paul Banyan and Casey Jones, visiting the campus. The faculty-student basketball game opened the week ' s activities and was followed by a host of events culminating with the parade, dance and game. Friday morning brought the largest and most competitive parade in Creighton ' s history. That evening about 3000 excited and anxious students awaited the coronation of Homecoming Queen Sue Egan and the announcement of the winner in float competition. This is the coveted first place that went to the Bluejay Belle — the riverboat of Iota Kappa Epsilon and Alpha Sigma Alpha. A sweeping victory at the Homecoming basket- ball game brought the week to a close — a week which bore with it the excitement of competition, fun and color that made months of preparation worthwhile.
