Freshmen pledged their loyalty to Creighton during the Mass of the Holy Spirit Founders ' Week stimulates spirit Tradition carries with it some of Creighton ' s unifying events. So it is with Founders ' Week. For the 38th consecutive year, Creighton honored its beloved founders with a series of events involving the entire university. Opening the week ' s activities was the celebra- tion of the Mass of the Holy Spirit, followed by the aU-university convocation which serves to tally growth, honor merit and reward service. Here, also the Very Rev. H. W. Linn sounded the note which was to harmonize all the university ' s activities for the coming year. His words set the theme for this year. We hope that we can provide the type of atmosphere which will encourage the pursuit of truth and scholastic achievement, which will produce graduates not only well-trained in their professions, but also men and women spiritually motivated in the conduct of their lives. This year Founders ' Week tied Creighton to Nebraska ' s Centennial celebration. A historical marker honoring Edward and John Creighton was erected on 24th and California St. This established Creighton as a historical site in Nebraska, At the Communion rail students renewed their request for spiritual guidance during the academic year. 20
