Assistant Editor Features........ Photography..... Business Manager Sponsor......... Colleen Morris Jean Douglas Robert Eggers Rex Empson Patsy O'Neal Mrs. Brookshier The staff has worked with but one aim in view, that of service to our fellow students and service to our school. We have endeavored, with the assistance of many loyal students to give an outling of the big events during the 1952-53 school year. The entire student body is to be congrat- ulated on the way that they cooperated with the staff in producing this annual. We hope that this annual meets with the approval of the student body and extend best wishes to our advertisers in continuing the service to the school. BOARD OF EDUCATION From left to right: Jimmie Wilson, Roy Gregg, Garnett Salmon, Superin- tendent Birch, Fred Wehmeyer, Florin Jones. Camera Shy: Ivan Randol, Julius Meyer We feel that we have been fortunate this year in having on our Board of Education members who were interested in all of our activities. They have willingly advanced money to carry out our athletic program and other interschool contests. Without the support of the Board of Educa- tion and the people of Creighton many of the things we have enjoyed most would never have been. FACULTY Supt. William J. Just as an airplane goes through the various stages of production, so does the average student of any educational institution. His progress can be traced as he passes through the engineering department, goes on the as- sembly line, is given a test flight, and finally is ready for delivery— as the finished product. The high and mighty seniors of C. H. S. class of 53 came to Creighton High School in September, 1949« As scrubs they could be compared to the raw material in an aircraft factory. Plans for perfecting it , for the development of citlsenship and high ideals, were carried out by the Engineer- ing Department or faculty. Their progress continued, as an airplane continues along the assembly line, through those new and frightening semesters of the tenth and eleventh grades, during which time they dreamed of the day when they would become unified into one group as seniors........... Finally the great day came when the group was ready for its TEST FLIGHT, for the purpose of testing its ability to carry on successfully the training it had received. They were united under the direction of Mr. Birch as seniors, with Robert L. Kggera as preaident, During this semester—which proved a crucial period in the history of the nation—they began to feel that they were coming closer to their ultimate goal. At last the Delivery of the finished product was in sight; the remaining days of their high school years were coming to an end. The long awaited Baooalaureate and Commencement were at hand. Finally a successful delivery was made May 13, 1953, when eight members ended their four years in nro- duotion with regret but with readiness to go out into the world to aid others and ivEBP 'EM FLYING. Even though they were most inexperienced they won every game in which they played. In the Adrain tournament these girls, though considerably inferior in height and age, emerged victorious and proudly returned to Creighton with the beautiful first place trophy. We need not worry about future high school teams when these younger players show such promise. We look forward to seeing these same players as they grow older and more experienced BOY'S WRITE-UP Team Where Played Oar's Their'a PeculiarHere 48 ..«•. 44,••• Archie••••••••••••••«••• •••Here«... . . . . . .... 52 « «...48...« Peculiar . . ... .. .......«There•••••• •••••••••••• •••JO .... 31 . . The 1952-53 Creighton Basketball team came through with a 22 win and a 9 loss record. Junior High Basketball Creighton's Jr. High boys are improving to the extent that many of them may be competing for regular bertha on next year's High School team. Though they lost out In the Adrian tournament we expect them to improve considerably during their future games. We must remember that, with the exception of only one player, all players are either 7th or 8th grade students and, in their games, are competing against freshmen play- ers. We expect much from them in the future. Charlotte Pelham is a city girl who has inherited the Bar-B-Q Ranch from her late uncle. With her side-kick, Lil Bower, Charlotte decides to go into the dude ranch businessbut, operating on a shoe- string, they find the sledding very rough indeed. Along comes Freddy Buck, who talks her into hiring him as a cowboy, a job for which he has no qualifications whatever. The dudes start arriving, including Elmira Spring, an heiress from the East; Waxy and Slug, a couple of tired business men who carry sixty-five thousand dollars in an old shoe box; and Sue Castle, a Hollywood glamour girl. We must also mention the Indian characters, Joe Chuckwagon and his wife, Princess One Blossom, who had the audience howling with laughter. The Cast was as follows: Charlotte Pelham, owner of the Bar-B-Q.--------------Lou Ann Alexander Lil Bower, her best friend___________________________Jean Douglas Sheriff Jackson, the law.............................Bill Carney Freddy Buck, a very funny fellow.--------------------Hobart Jacobs Joe Chuckwagon, a noble Redman.----------------------Wayne Keutzer Princess One Blossom, his wife.----------------------Sharon Gregg Elmira Spring, a wealthy tourist.--------------------Charlene Shultz Waxy, a tired business man.--------------------------Joe Farr Slug, another.-------------------------------------------Spring Sue Castle, an incognito celebrity.------------------Nancy Gregory Senior Class $ 1 The 1953 seniors selected for their play, a mystery comedy called Spooky Junction. The stage setting was a dilapidated railway station and the action began in the midst of a violent storm, late one summer night. Into this weird setting came an eloping couple, a girl vandeville team, a colored lady, a mysterious man and a veiled lady--all seeking shelter from the storm. The old station master, Zeb, appeared to tell them that the station had been abandoned--indeed a train hadn't been on the track for years. In fact since the train wreck in which he himself was killed! Locked doors, a dead body, counterfeiters all served to build up suspense and comedy until the villains were captured and virtue re- warded. The cast included: Fran Frazer, a fiancee--------- Jack Kaiser, an eloper--------- Kathleen Conner, an entertainer Mary Conner, another----------- Della Delmonte, a colored lady- Rex Ring, a man of mystery----- Zeb Webster, a stationmaster--- The Woman in Black, a stranger- Karen Wehmeyer Joe Edd Heller ■Wanda Jo Nay •Colleen Morris ■Laura Olin •Kevin Morris •Robert Eggers •Alta Neill 5 h A p 5 hofs ovr 5 'ik'.f, bJt.
