All-State, All Conference Kevin Kehne attempts to go wide after catching a pass. All-State Defensive tackle Kelly Eisenbeiss watches and prepares to go on field. Victories over arch-rival Pierce and West Holt in the first two games of the season led Bulldog fans to believe it was finally our year. Other people were believers, too, as Creighton topped the World-Herald and Lincoln Star Polls for class C-1 teams. But it was not to be, as a lack depth com- bined with key injuries stopped the Bulldogs in midseason. We were unable to recover from the loss of Seniors Larry Neilsen, Doug McManigal and Scott Wagner, and ended the season at 3-6. We were not without our highlights, however, as four players were named to the 1981 All-NENAC squad: Kelly Eisenbeiss, Kevin Kehne, Doug McManigal, and Kevin Young; and four others named honorable mention. Kelly Eisenbeiss was also named by the Omaha World Hearald and Lincoln Star as Class C-1 All State Defensive Tack- le. Twenty nine letters were earned, and several honors were voted upon: Kelly Eisenbeiss was named Head Captain, with Kevin Kehne and Curt Zimmerer named Co-captains. Kevin Young was named offensive player of the year, and defensive honors went to Kelly Eisenbeiss. 28 Coach Polzin pulls on his hair as in response to the incompleted pass in the background.

The Creighton grapplers, under the tutelage of coach Randy Kliment, have good reason to be proud. After losing a close dual to Pope John Central, the Bulldogs more than doubled the score on all of their opponents, except for perennial power Plainview. Led by 5 state qualifiers, the wrestlers placed in every tournament they entered. The highlight of the season was winning the Plainview Invitational over stiff competition. Paul Richling, who repeated as a state wrestler, placed 5th at 112 in the final meet. He was joined by seniors Kelly Eisenbeiss and Larry Neilsen, and juniors Mike Doerr and Kevin Young, who placed 6th at 155. 30
