They are: Tom Anderson, Donna Bartling, Lanny Bartling, Ardith Clough, Ed Olsen, Susan Radosti, Carl Sanders, and Teresa Smith. During grade school and junior high, Kenneth Meikle, Jim Brandt, Ed Smith, Bill Berglund, Neil Kuhlman, Denzil Theis, Sharon West, Scott Adams, Gloria Bartak, Sherry Boone, Gaylen Kumm, Janet Montgomery, Phyllis Myers, Jerry Porter, Fred Ruzicka, Linda Sorensen, and Susie Webster joined us for those carefree years. In 7th grade our junior high float, consisting of a rocking horse with the theme of Rock to Victory ' won 1st prize in the Homecoming parade. We took 3rd prize in the 8th grade in float competition. Our float was a large envelope with the theme Send 'Em Home In Defeat . . Our first year of high school was fun-filled confusion with 14 new students: They were: Melvin Blair, Linda Boggs, Betty Buhrman, Charles Carlson, Roger Davison, Don Emery, Brenda Faith, Don Faith, James Geiger, Ward Greenwall, Sue Hartshorn, Judy Key, Linda Vietor, and Dan Walker. The sophomores started the year for us with a hayride. Sharon West was our Homecoming Queen candidate. We built a windmill for our float theme, Power Is Victory , but failed to earn a prize although it was the best float. At the beginning of our sophomore year, Don Emory, Brenda Faith, James Geiger, Ward Greenwall, Judy Key, and Denzil Theis failed to return, but Audrey Prochaska, Dewayne Spies, and Melvin Woods were added to the class enrollment. We again selected Sharon West as our queen candidate. We were quite proud of our 1st prize battleship, our Homecoming float called Float Thru To Victoryâ. We threw a hayride for the freshmen. Our junior year held a new experience for us as we moved into the new high school. Six new students joined us in breaking it in, which we did quite well. They were: Herb Blair, Don Carlson, Paul Crosley, Linda Fredericks, Sandra Haack, and Ebby Ziegler. Charles Carlson, Dewayne Spies, and Linda Vietor left us. Betty Buhrman was chosen as queen can- didate. Tradition was kept by again taking 1st prize in float competition. Our beautiful watermelon won with the theme Chew 'Em Up And Spit 'Em Outâ. Our Junior Class Play, Man Overboard, was the first to be presented on the new stage. Our audience was blinded by our dazzling new class rings. We invited the seniors to our Oriental Gardens for the Jr.-Sr. Banquet and Prom. Of course we all enjoyed Slouch Day . Linda Fredericks, Linda Sorensen, and Susan Webster did not return for our final year, but we received five new students. They were: Connie Edwards, Jean Kind, Larry Pease, Susan Wagner, and Kent Welch. Our Homecoming Queen candidate. Sue Hartshorn, was 1st attendant, and Sharon West was crowned as Homecoming Queen. Our ballot box, Vote For Victory , was awarded 3rd prize. The event of the year was April 2, Sneak Day, when we loaded a bus for Omaha. We spent time at Boysâ Town, the Crossroads, and the Pacific Railroad Museum, and viewed My Fair Ladvatthe Cooper Theater. The year was brightened, or frightened, by the Senior Class Play, The Scarlet Ghost. We enjoyed a visit with Arabian Knightsâ at the Jr.-Sr. Banquet and Prom. Honors Night, May 14, Baccalaureate, May 16, and Commencement, May 18, brought an end to our years at C.H.S. We wish the future graduates the best of success at our alma mater. 18 K. Falter D. It joined the National Association of Student Councils. It spon- sored the 11th annual Homecoming and the Homecoming activities, such as the bonfire pep rally, the parade, and the halftime cere- monies. During the Christmas season it sponsored the decoration of the school, the gift exchange, and the Christmas party. The council also sponsored Lyceum programs, the Danny Liska Program, sold bookcovers, and sold school pennants. Mary Saloum wrote the Bulldog Bark column for the Creighton News, and the Bulldog Bark Box was available for student opinions. A new project was started when it was decided to landscape the grounds. Six trees were purchased, and one was planted at an Arbor Day Program, which was also sponsored by the council. A school banner was pur- chased and presented to the school at Honors Night. The end-of-the-year picnic was held at Grove Lake and was the last pro- ject of the year. Backiow: G. Falter; E. Doerr; T. LaFrenz; F. Ruzicka; J. Mathine; T. Diedrichsen; S. Thompson. Second Row; V. On the day before a game, girls painted signs on the windows of downtown stores. If the game was won, the businessmen washed the windows; if the game was lost, the girls washed them. Pep rallies were centered around themes varying from Bug 'Em to Scalp 'Em . On March 20 the Pep Club invited the athletes, coaches, and fac- ulty to the Athletic Banquet. At the end of the year letters or gold bars were awarded to girls that had earned 30 or more points. The Pep Club voted to help send the new cheerleaders to the summer cheerleading camp at Wesleyan University in Lincoln. OFFICERS AND SPONSORS Mrs. Oxley: Sponsor; P. Myers, Treas.; M. Saloum, V. McKown, COACH SWEDE HAWKINS PRE- DICTED a split season in football be- fore the boys took the field last fall. The 1964 teams won four, lost five and tied one. Three extra-points a- way from a six and four season. A young football squad competing in the NENAC and CORNTASSEL con- ferences and playing a fine Spencer ball club as a tenth game. The squad reported in August with only five sen- iors out for football. The young club started to jell in midseason and won four out of their last five ball games with the big oneâs being victory over the Bloomfield Bees (5-3-2), and the Spencer Pirates (7-3). A large number of lettermen will report for the 1965 grid season and it should be a very successful season. A new coach and a revised schedule with CHS playing more schools their size and dropping the NENAC con- ference should help the school obtain their new ideas of athletic supremacy. After a slow, shaky start the first team emerged with 3 trophies, 3rd in the Holiday Tourna- ment, 3rd in the NENAC Tournament, and 2nd place in the Knox County Tournament. Towards the end of the season there was a shake up of the personnel on the team be- cause of disciplinary reasons. Afterwards the team went on to win 3 straight games including a first round in the District. In the 2nd round O'Neill St. Mary's defeated Creighton by 1 point, giving the team a 9-12 final round. Final standings of the Creighton Bulldogs were 3rd in Corntassel and 5th in NENAC. The second team also did very well finishing the season with a fine 8-5 record and break- ing many individual and team scoring records. Back Row: G. Finke, D. Schmadeke, D. Marshall, B. Mathine, B.
