FLOWER White Carnation COLORS Blue and White ' MOTTO So nigh IS grandeur to our dust. So near is God to man. When duty whispers ‘Lo! Thou must.’ The youth replies. ' I can’.” Eia0s Looking backward o ' er the pathway, Trod in earlier days Hand in hand with you our comrades We’ve come now to parting ways. Shall we leave you but a mem’ry? Nay I Our ideals too. Golden milestones we’ve erected They shall be as guides to you. And those milestones stand forever Marking us to you. Standing for our best endeavor All in us that ' s brave and true. One ' s for conscientious effort, One ' s for hearts that give. One’s for bright ambition’s footstool. One’s for truths that live. One’s for hope and one’s for friendship One’s for helpfulness. One’s for love of home and country. One’s for God and righteousness. Eear we not to leave behind us These our mem’ries bright. Our successes and our failures Can but help you toward the light. So night IS grandeur to our dust. So near is God to man. When duty whispers ' Lo! Thou must,’ The youth replies, ' I can’.’’ These words our famous motto true Will follow us on our way. We hope they’ll serve as guides for you. On life’s journey day by day. 0 white carnation, Thou whose spirit Hovers o’er us here. Be our guide our inspiration, Be forever very near. Keep the light of truth still burning May we ever faithful be. Ever home our hearts returning Creedmoor High School unto Thee. By Bobby Newton Cllaaa ong Our high school days are over And from you we must depart, But in our hearts you shall always remain And we shall honor you in our every thought. That we may stand successfully through the years. And the tasks and lessons we’ve prepared. In years to come this happiness will reappear As we think of you our school days dear. Truly there’s a tear in every eye. As we say goodbye to you, our own. Dear Creedmoor High, By Shirley Keith and June Crews | trtur:ea ■ ■|j-- Tf 1 - ' - w r V f Jlki llH H 1 4 li N ■ II iiiatorg Ding-dong! Ding-dong! The tones were heard sweet and clear on an early morn¬ ing in September. The bell was proclaiming the opening of the Greedmoor High School for the year 1941. Down the long corridor of the building could be seen boys and girls clinging desperately to their mother ' s hands, as they wended their way to Miss Louisa Rose- mond’s first grade room. But when we, tiny boys and girls then, saw the animal merry-go-round, the toy band instruments, and Miss Rosemond’s smiling face, our mother’s hands were soon forgotten, and we made ourselves at home. During the first year we became acquainted with some of the tools we were to use all our lives to gain knowledge. Reading, ’Riting, and ’Rithmetic, as you know, wer e the basic ones. As we came on grade by grade, many new things entered our lives and we learned how to handle and use more efficiently the tools given us in the first grade. Now, as our last school year draws to a close and we look back over our happy years spent in elementary and high school, we recall many exciting events. One of these events was our graduation into high school. The big moment had finally arrived and we were Freshmen at last. Thrilled and excited over the idea of changing classes, we spent a glorious year under the guidance of Mr, Sidney Ray. As our Sophomore year began, the newness of high school had gone and with Miss Edith Hall, our classroom sponsor, we passed a prosperous year. One of our best years, our Junior year, was yet to come. With plans and ambitions for the best Junior-Senior Banquet and first Prom ever given at Greedmoor High, we enthusiastically entered Mrs. Penn McIntosh’s eleventh grade. During this year our classrings were selected and bought and Junior-Senior, a big success. Our Senior year, what we all have been striving for, is here. As we near the close of our last year at Greedmoor High School, all forty-one of us eagerly await the day when we shall begin our journey on life ' s highway—not as a group, but as individuals, each with separate goals and ambitions for a happy and a successful life. Recently, as Ghermon and I decided to check up on our classmates of ' 53, we took off on a long trip. The reports we brought back were definitely of great interest to many. While flying over Hollywood, we saw Jimmy Curl playing opposite Janet Brady in “The Battle.” We found Billy Adams, Junior Newton and Thomas Nevils playing basketball with the Chicago Lakers. John Goss and James Keith were owners of big race tracks. New York proved to be the residence of quite a few members of the Class of ' 53. Harvey Ann Beck had become a famous hair stylist with Audrey Bowles as her assistant. June Crews and Joel Cross were singing at the Metropolitan. Jerrie Brinkley, Edna Mae Currin, and Patsy Edmondson were secretaries for Avon Gupton’s car business. Mary V. Ferrill hooked Bobby E. Mosley, who is now a famous Lawyer. As we were leaving New York we glimpsed Lehman Brinkley playing centerfield for the New York Giants. In Chicago we spotted Marjorie Lou Lyon, Carolyn Glover, and Carolyn Jones, public school teachers, who were teaching the children of Nancy Wheeler and Ben Bullock, the famous football player. Next we flew over the office of Ann McIntosh, the big town doctor, with Yvonne Yeargin and Alice Washington as nurses, treating Bob Thomas, Ann’s favorite patient. As we were flying toward home, our next stop was Durham, where we saw Pat Pittard, Janet Garner, and Laura Jean Perry designing dresses with Evelyn Sandling, Jean Garol Parrott, and Dorothy Hicks modeling them. Back in Creedmoor we found as the grammar grade music teacher, Bobby Newton and his assistant Jackie Whitt. Spencer O’Neal was reclining at his big Southern estate. Last but not least we found Shirley Keith, Peggy Johnson, and Barbara Brogden at home with their beloved husbands. And so we left the Class of ’53 out of sight but not forgotten.
