VAR ITY FOOTB LL RENSSELAER C.H.S. opened the football season by dropping a 13-7 tilt to the Rensselaer Bombers. Playing to a draw in the first half, the Athenians scored first in the third with F ishero catching a pass from Cox. Hipes scored the extra point with a pass from Cox. The Bombers followed with 13 points to win. NOBLESVILLE The Cold and Blue crushed Noblesville, 32-7, after the Millers had won 13 games in a row. Clements and Cox scored two touchdowns apiece and Iones scored one. R. Hamm threw two touchdown passes and kicked two extra points. SHORTRIDGE Leading 6-0 at the half, the Athenians faded to give the Blue Devils a 14-6 win. Hipes scored the only Athenian TD of the evening on a pass from R. Hamm. SHERIDAN Abney and Hipes scored long touchdown runs to lead the Athenians to a 32-6 victory over Sheridan. B. Hamm scored another TD on a quarterback sneak and added two extra points. WEST LAFAYETTE The local gridders scored in every period to steamroll the Red Devils, 44-20, in the first away game. Cox, B. Hamm, and Hipes each scored two TD,s to lead the Athenian attack. Abney also added to the winning score. BRAZIL The Homecoming was marred for the second straight year by a 21-20 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils. Cox, R. Hamm, and Abney scored. Jones and B.
