'X RIBUTE Over the entrance of our great institution of learning is painted in large letters the motto of our school, Enter To Learn, Go Forth To Serve. Each student of C. H. S. interprets this motto in terms of peace-time service. However, when war was declared on Japan and Germany in December, 1941, every loyal son of C. H. S. interpreted anew our school motto. He broadened its meaning to include service to defend the four freedoms of our country. He donned the uniform of our armed forces, and today he lights on foreign soil thousands of miles from home to preserve our American way of life and to keep war from our shores. In the Pacific theater of war, he knows the meaning of disease-infested jungles, blinding rains, muddy foxholes, and a merciless enemy. In the European theater of war, he knows the meaning of bombed cities, hungry humanity, ceaseless ack-ack, and a ruthless foe. Our hope and prayer for each of these valient sons of C. H. S. is that he soon may return safely to his home and country to enjoy again the four freedoms which he has been defending. Page Fifteen
