Oy Sy a LB “ ee — ' Fe Moving Into the ’80’s Advancement into 1980 brought many changes to the Crawford Colt campus. One of the most noticeable was the transition from Eastern League to Western League in athletic competi- tion. In this new division, the Colts found the competition to be more comparable with their own abilities. Autistic children and Special Edu- cation teachers came to Crawford for a Special Education Program that was funded by the Federal Govern- ment. With this program, autistic children had the opportunity to learn the basic skills that are essential to everyday living. Class competition was brought back for the second year. This meant __ SSssSssseoqseSSe se=== SSaaSa_h_a_aah_==j]===== EEL = LSS Lh™”™E)EpapaBnI™ nhh™ ||=aBhnnhhO9NBN9SBHESSSS|SS= = more fun, games, and spirit for the students of Crawford as they battled for points for their class. The class that totaled the most points at the end of the year received a special award from the A.S.B. A definite change was noticed in the Crawford parking lot. This year, many Colts changed their means of transportation from driving regu- larly to car pooling, using the bus sys- tem, riding bicycles, and walking. This was due to the current energy situation, a problem that we will have to face as we progress into the ’80’s. To conclude, nineteen eighty has been a year of change and develop- ment for every Colt. We look into the future decade with excitement and anticipation. 40)89N-oosng 40189 N-oosng 10382 N-oosng Sioquosoy ouursiy, 410189 N-oosng Opening — 5 SS 6 — Student Life Busco-Nestor 10389 N-oosng aie Busco-Nestor oui ag ge fl i -2 é f Q f cy ff { 7 { Me f SW eo Wi f x vw ey: t y je et snmenore © re : 3 b f : pla, ye Kurt Kyle cz OD LS oe 4 | : on ; . yi Bee. Registration was a trying time for all, faculty and students alike. Every- one, especially counselors, worked hard to make this year’s registration a success. This year, a new system was used, self-scheduling. On the whole, the new system worked well for everyone, especially seniors, who got first choice. Proposition 13 kept the football team from training until a week before school started. They made up for lost time by working harder than ever to get in shape for the coming season. Hell week and registration marked the beginning of another busy school year. Of course, there was some depression at the thought of summer ending, but deep down, most of us were happy to come back to our friends and were enthusiastic about the coming school year. ce Goodbye Summer ajAy ny ajAy wny get es “hy Jeet aN Se ME eS ciliate, in She hee - Cae sary Pod Registration — 9 — 2 2 ms co te ee a oe a ea ac cae REA Pt oyAy Ny bo oyAYy ny o}AY Ny , 10 — A.S.B. It was a time for relaxing, talking, getting things done, and, of course, eating. Open campus w: ill in effect, but many students stayed on pus to make use of the cafeteria, studen store, coke and fruit machines. Many lunch periods were used for rallies, music in the Quad, activity periods, Home- coming week activities, and multi-cultural day. It was a time for buying dance and athletic tickets, bake sale goods, A.S.B. cards, Pacers and Centaurs. Lunch was not always fun and games. Sometimes that precious half hour was spent cramming for a fifth or sixth period test or making up homework. Most of all, lunch was a welcome break, enjoyed by all. 1. The squad along with Susie Sides, Commissioner of Rallies and Assemblies, would figure out what the rallies were to be about. At the beginning of the year there was a rally for Homecoming and one for Hal- loween. And throughout the year there were rallies honoring different sports, dress-up days and times of the year. The crowds seemed full of enthusiasm as they watched the Cheerleaders, Son- gleaders and Mascots do their routines. To raise money for the International Key Club Conven- tion, the Key Clubbers sold conces- sions at school dances and sponsored a road rally. The Auroras, named after Aurora — Goddess of the Dawn, is an honor- ary service organization for senior girls. Their motto is “Ad successum viam adaperimus’”’ (toward success we seek to open the way) and the members “seek to serve, anticipating our assigned duties as Aurora pro- ceeded the sun.” As is traditional, the Auroras was a very active club on campus, their service to the school -o and community was varied and con- 2 tinuous. Besides helping out at vari- = ous school functions, they also spon- ® sored such fun activities as the Donut Dunkem, the Christmas card and mistletoe sale, the valentine and car- nation sale, a senior citizen party, and an appreciation breakfast for the sup- port of workers on campus. They also helped at all graduation activities during their junior year. SJOUU0D UBA i cea iat, 1. Mr. Fairley too, It's been a superb year!!! All Hail Crawford High School, we will be true to thee. Katy CRUISIN' — The magical mystery tour began with the search for Nirvana. Terror had struck Quadville with the insincerities of a superficial life. It was up to Captain Disco Draz and the Courageous C-Horse Cowboys to save the mobocracy and make the Empire safe for water polo. Thus, our heroes clim- bed into their dusty brown starship to travel here and there with many amaz- ing feats and good times for all. With things clear on the Aquatics front, it was now up to the Sand Castle Lady to inspire all the mouths that had noth- ing to say. Incredible new heights of vocal achievements were attained under the leadership of the ski-bum in her cool car. Foreign dialects were encoun- tered along the path to Utopia yet the glowing Mrs. D and Mrs. M were able to translate the mess. The situation appeared well in hand when it was found that the dreaded Cousin Ralph had set up a new headquarters in a certain FIA Canyon. A posse of fantastic individuals had to be found to squash Cousin Ralph. Such a group existed with the fiendish talent that was neces- sary to produce a triumph. The party consisted of Stumpy, Disco Greencard, A. Wipe, Jolly Green Giant and yours truly, Bonzo. Although several prob- lems were incurred such as exploding radiators and fast rabbits, Cousin Ralph was squashed. Latter battles would be fought, such as the minor incidents at the jetty where the Twin Fin Sinner, the Mushboard Monger, and the Suishine Kid would usually triumph, yet none would match the intensity of the canyon. The Magical mystery tour was filled with many people that will exist forever in the past, present, and future consciousness of the tour guide. Chico — let's go soifin'; Scott — the good times were great; Eric — swooping at higher institutions of education; Chris — don't drift too far; Heather — My first date, you're great; Jimmy — you stud!; Dana — intellectual resident a Palo Alto; Fred — move the previous question; Darryl — the smartest guy | know. Wendi S$. — An untapped energy resource; Wendy T. — Wherever it is, you'll find success; and Katy — many good times were spent discussing all sorts of politics over a good pitcher of coke-sprite? What was on Saturday Night Live? Thanks for the memories Everyone. When it's right, you'll knw it. When it's good, you'll feel it. Do unto others as ya would have them do unto you.
