MRS. McMULLEN There is never anybody so good but that there is somebody else a little better -a popular aphorism that serves to keep us humble, or, more significantly, to spur us on to be that little bit better. We might think of the 'someone else' as a completely separate person, or the psychology of this may very well be that of our two 'selves' and the challenge to us of living with the better-self. lt will not be easy. The better-self has his fa.ults. Sometimes he is a bit of a prig, sometimes a tyrantg but one thing you may be sure of, he is never a bore. He is adventuresome, daring and never con- tent with the mediocre. ' My wish for each of you is that you accept the challenge of superiority that is without a doubt within you and achieve in terms of that better-self. lMrs.l Mary I. Mrs. Daugherty MRS. THOMAS The diplomas earned by you, the class of l96O, represent little more than a mini- mum requirement for successful citizenship and eventual achievement in your chosen ocupation. Through continued education or apprenticeship you will have an opportu- nity to prepare yourself for useful service. ln the next few years you will be making decisions which will affect your future. Prime factors in these decisions should be any special capacities which you may have for service. Have faith in your ability and mankind will recognize and use it effec- tively. A. Melba Thomas Acting Girls' Dean MRS. DAUGHERTY Congratulations to you, the members of the T960 graduating class for your per- sonal and academic achievements and for your contributions to the excellent esprit de corps developing at Crawford High School. Since you are the first class to have the tuition of our skilled faculty and staff for three full years, you represent our first Crawford product, of which we are all exceedingly proud. The true test of the education you have received here, however, will come as you apply what you have learned to the better- ment of mankind. Our greatest wish for you then is con- tinued health and happiness and the satis- faction that comes from serving your coun- try and your world in a measure commen- surate with your ability. F. Daugherty Girls' Dean 453' Mrs. Thomas
