I We, the Graduating Class of I959. the first class of Will C. Crawford High School, dedicate this annual to our successors: the future graduating classes of Crawford High School. We have begun the work-now it is up to you to continue our plans, and to make plans of your own. Protect your heritage--take care to make the most of our dreams for you. There is much work to be done. Think carefully and do your tasks well, for it is up to you to keep Crawford worthy and proud. Being Seniors is a privilege and an honor, worked for and dreamed of by millions of high school students in America. Do not waste Your Senior Year, but make the most of it. Remember every moment of your last, nostalgic year at Crawford, and carry your memories with you throughout your whole lives. We leave to you all the joys and sorrows, fulfillments and disappoint- ments of being Seniors. Do your best, and make places for yourselves in the records of Will C. Crawford High School. Aww 15, ulefpl A0 ,57 kilp uf! the karl Cmls. X X facufty C L E Crawford High School Class of '59 is unique in many ways. Other classes may develop some of the same qualities. and include members with the same records and goals. No class to follow, however, can have the distinction of being the FIRST to graduate. The responsibility for setting the pace, the challenge of establishing the place to be filled and held by Crawford in the city system of secondary schools, has been yours. You have set hi h standards. You have resisted the temptation to imitate class patterns from other schools and carry out activities no longer appropriate to the demands of the fast-movin age we live in. Worthwhile activities which may very well become significant traditions have been established. Whatever success is destined for Crawford High School will be due in large measure to the leadership of the Class of '59, lMrs.l M-ary l. McMullen Principal MRS. CQVEY The Centaur adds the first graphic chapter to the proud record of Will C, Crawford High School. Credit for this fine book goes to the loyal annual staff. For you the Class of I959, it is the last chapter of your high school years. one filled with pleasant memories'. As each of us turns the pages of this book, we will find warm smiles of friendship and we will have many happy recollections of the past two years. ln dedicatin this annual to the future gradu- ating classes of, Crawford High School, the Class of i959 has furnished an outline for the wonder- ful story that will be written for Crawford High School in future years. For this, the future grad- uating classes will look back and thank you, and respect you for your accomplishments. lMrs.l Margaret G. Covey Girls' Dean MR BYRNES The Class of l959 has been fortunate to have the opportunity and distinction of being the first graduating class of Crawford Hi h School. Sponsored by the ASB council, it is hoped that it wifl better acquaint students with the ways and mannerisms of Crawford. CRAWFORD DEDICATION Dedication Day is perhaps the first red-letter event in Crawford's history, for it was on this day that Will C. Crawford High School became officially recognized. Dean McBride of the Point Loma Community Church led the invocation. Featured speakers at this memorable occasion were Mrs. Mary McMullen, Principal: Dr. George Geyer, As- sociate Superintendent of the San Diego City Schools: Dr. Ralph Dailard, Superintendent of City Schools: Dr. Frank Lowe, San Diego Board of Education, and Mrs. Merle C-5, Smith, President of Crawford's P.T.A,. After two months of diligent work the committee submitted its final product to the sudent body' for ratification. The Constitution of Will C. Crawford was accepted in November, I957.
