I Mr. A. R. Moon, County Superintendent Students and other friends of Crawford County: The Crawford County Vocational Technical School adds another chapter to the development of our educational institutions in Crawford County. Students, thru the use of modern facilities and motivated by a competent faculty, learn first-hand the trades that will prepare them for'their future vocations in our competitive society. They meet and solve ev- eryday problems, utilizing the three indisputable assets of mankind - reason, logic and common sense, and doing this prepare themselves for the more difficult situations that are certain to arise. Students, faculty and friends are combining their efforts to build an even better technical school and their work has been rewarded. The first annual is part of that development. We extend our best wishes to you who are served by the publication and to the people whose labors made it possible. P. 5 Administration And Faculty P 29 Departments Adult TABLE CF CONTENTS P I3 Seniors Education P 69 Advertising 4 L Dedication To the memory of Floyd B. Peters we dedicate this first volume of the Countian. lt was his dream and his labors that helped make the Crawford County Vocational-Technical School become a reality. There was a certainty in this man, who was un- afraid to share himself with othersg unafraid to be- come involved in the candid life of a student. He engaged with vitality his learning and teaching life. He was always admired for the way he ap- proached life's problems, and he was our example. We aspire to be like him. To him we dedicate this book in an attempt to thank him for his devotion to God, to man, and to his country. ,l FLOYD B. PETERS Crawford County Schools Superintendent 1950 - 1966 AN D FACU LTY ADMINISTRATION From the Director: The changing world of today demands training in order to compete for iobs created by the tremendous technological advances and changes. Educational preparation and train- ing hold the key to your place in our changing society. For some, this means training tor the professions, or the world ot business and commerce, and for many it means specialized technical and vocational training. Whatever field of endeav- or a person seems best suited, it is well to keep in mind that All Work is Important. By establishing this Crawford County Area Vocational- Technical School facility, our participating school districts and their forward looking Boards of Education have provid- ed technical and vocational training tor a large segment of our high school pupils. ln addition, many of our adults now have an opportunity to seek training otherwise not available. It has been a distinct pleasure for me to have assisted in the development of our new Vocational-Technical School Facili- ty. lt would be my hope in wishing you well, that you will con- tinue to grow educationally in your chosen trade, and that you will proceed toward attainment of maximum knowledge in your endeavor. . The DECA Creed symbolizes the criteria for students who will be the future leaders in the field of distribution. THE CREED l believe in the future which l am planning for myself in the field of distribution, and in the opportunities which my voca- tion offers. l believe in fulfilling the highest measure of service to my vo- cation, my fellow beings, my country and my God - that by so doing, I will be rewarded with personal satisfaction and material wealth. l believe in the democratic philosophies of private enterprise and competition, and in the freedoms of this nation - that these philosophies allow for the fullest development of my in- dividual abilities. S' The Crawford County Area Vocational Techni- cal School Agribusiness Department last year participated in the Regional F.F.A. Demonstra- tion Contest at Grove City. The team of Sandra Q- Rockafellow, Leonard Rowan, Clyde Walton ? and Troy Ehrhart won third place with a demon- stration entitled Flower Power. Of the eleven teams participating the Co-Tech group had the 1' only girl contestant in the contest. The demon- stration itself was making a flower arrangement -- and helped show the interest in NON-FARM ag- riculture. lv- i This year, the group has participated in corsage and flower sales for Valentines Day and Moth- er's Day, seed sales and making Yule Logs at Christmas time. The financial gains realized from these proiects went toward student note- books and purchase of yearbooks for entire class. Larry Barr, Reporter, Connie 'Smith and Cathy Hill Inspecting. The students are pre- pared to become proficient in caring for the patients whose needs are relatively free from scientific complexity as well as in as- sisting the professional nurse in a highly complex nursing situation. Education of the practical nurse student must be developed through a curriculum based on scientitic principles that are modi- fiea ro meet me needs ot the practical nurse. Because nursing is dependent on medical, physical, biological, and social sci- ences, content from these areas is integrat- ed into the educational program. This one year program is designed to pre- pare the qualified selected individual to function effectively as a safe practitioner in the beginning positions in a variety of prac- tical nursing situations. , ...,,,,:,., U- s -. -Q' -l 4-- ---- f- L ., ,w,, ,,,-,- F ,, .1 I . To our knowledge it is the first publication of its kind in the Key- stone State. We are proud to be a part of the action. We have attempted to cover the history of a school year.
