Through the use of simulated working conditi ons they become familiar with different job requirements. Several work programs (VOT IOP) are available in which students may receive school credit for their off- campus jobs. Students are also encouraged to participate in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) which is sponsored by the department. Vocational programs at the High School are primarily designed to provide students with exploratory training experiences in vocational electives. These electives provide job skills for those who intend to enter directly into employment or plan to continue their training at the post- secondary level after graduation. MATH Awards — given each year to a student (usually a senior) with the highest academic average for 4 years of math. Activities — our students participate in the Gordon Jr. math contest and in the Middle Ga. math contest sponsored by Macon Jr. College. Gordon Jr. Contest Winners Pictured Above — Martha McAfee, Todd Fredrick, Linda Lowery, and Tim Smith. Science Students are encouraged to become proficient in the use of the scientific method, and its resultant critical thinking. Students should learn more than a mere “History” of science and should be able to apply scientific principles to their daily life. meee MUSIC Music at Crawford County High is an intergal part of the daily program. This means that music is recognized 1s each child’s heritage and as part of the “here and now” of day to day living. Music is designed for the students enjoyment, as well as a earning process that is correlated with school and community activities, such as Christmas programs, leterary events, and one act. The year 1979-80 has been a turning point for many Crawford art students. The art projects that we attempted will serve as a basic for the careers we will pursue after graduation. This year we experimented and improved in many areas. Among these were, silk screening, air brush painting, and background scenery. The projects have been educational and lots of fun. ENGLISH The English Department attempts to help students to become proficient in the language arts. Students who show promise in writing and speaking are encouraged to participate in the annual literary events. In today’s fast world a rather complete knowledge of social studies is needed for an average American citizen and government student to enable him to understand the problems of the world. A well- rounded social studies program provides each student with the essential ability to understand the functioning of American government and the heritage of our history. It is generally recognized that a student that has had the full compliment of the social studies is well prepared to exercise his rights and privileges as a citizen and to cope with the problems confronting him in a fast moving world. The social studies program at CCCHS will enable a student to achieve this preparedness. All the many happenings are still so fresh in our minds, memories that will last forever. We must now begin to think of new horizons. Our futures seems so full of promise. We now leave one bus to soon board another, for we still have so far to go. May our journeys continue to be rewarding; may our flat tires be few and far be- tween.
