. f '- -- Q- - . 1 ,:.iX- s .. ' X ' Zin Memoriam ANDREW LEROY SMITH O U R BELOVED CLASSMATEH BORN JULY 27,1904 DIED OCTOBER 19,1923 To the Memory of Andrew CBY E. C. DURHAMJ sb TS not in vain he took up life and laid it down so soon: Some reach the end of their life-day ere comrades reach the noon. How much he lived in those few years to make his stay worth while! He lived in every cheerful word, he lived in every smile. Home first, with home ties binding him, he did so noble live: He lived in that Hrst baby smile his parents saw him give, And as he talked, and walked, and grew to be a manly son, He lived in such a noble way that home ones say, 4'lVell done! ln other homes he had a place that no one else could take, And now the social circles feel the sudden shocking break: They feel it most in homes where just a few would often meet, .Xnd where they say it took his face to make their joy complete. He lived elsewhere-he lived in school. As one from out the mass lle was selected, then was placed, as a leader of his class. They think not now of him as one who lived and lives no more- But Andrew Smith will ever live in the class of 724. He lived, l've seen him noble live, as oft he took his seat, VVith reverence unsurpassed, in church, to sing and to repeat, The ereeds and prayers that all there said, expressing their belief ln Him, the Maker, Father Friend, and Comforter in grief. Who says that Andrew did not live to bless the brotherhood? For I hear voices everywhere, exelaiming 'tHe was good l 'Tis not the length of many years that makes his memory sweet How much, and not how long, he lived, makes Andrewls life complete. IPAQE EIGHT!
