FOREWORD - T0 THE 60's We, who are graduating in 1960, realize that we are on the threshold of a new decade. We are the young adults, the children of World War II, our parents were growing up during World War I and the Great Depression, and our children will be of the Space Era. In this new decade as we mature we will formulate great ideas and decisions. Though the events of the coming years are uncertain, we are prepared to meet them. We are anxious, but confi- dent, as we work at solving the immediate problems of getting into college and industry. As Americans, we are becoming aware of the race into space. jet trails and sonic booms are a part of our daily lives. The 1960 American automobile is our tangible contact with speed, luxury, and sometimes death. Automation is here - push button appliances, photoelectric cells, and electronics help us with our work, time our activities, and shorten the drudgery of monotonous tasks. Paradoxically, we save time, but, leading more active lives, we find ourselves short of hours. We think ourselves to be average American youth who like to be casual, follow fashions, and be mem- bers of the group. Many of us, awed by the pace of our expanding world, often feel insignificant. Yet, we are optimistic. We realize that an in- creasing number of opportunities are available. Though we don't ex- pect to make drastic revisions in world history, we hope to contribute our share of changes.
