N THE DEATH of Miss Anne E. Carpenter last August, Cranston High School lost a capable teacher and a sympathetic friend who had served the school long and well. For many years she was head ot the Englisn Department, an inspiration to all the students and teachers who came in contact with her. It was under her leadership that our yearbook was de- veloped and the Cranston Women Teachers' Association was tounded. She started Student Government in Cranston when no other high school in the state had adopted it, and to the students of later years she was best known as the founder and supervisor ot the well-equipped school library. Such valuable achievements as these, and her memorable personal quali- ties-her cordiality, her humor, her knowledge, and her deep under- standing-endear Miss Carpenters name to everyone who knew her. -4-

Foreword AR HAS ALWAYS been the disrupter of the little activities which are an integral and cherished part of life in peacetime.
