Class of 1956: Your high school marks a quarter of a century ofprog- ress. Through progress, the curriculum has been varied and a sincere attempt has been made to meet the needs, interests and abilities of the school's young men and women. As we look into the future and ponder the past, we have discovered that the basic traits of mankind do not rust or corrode. Brass may tarnish and marble walls may crumble but honesty and dependability will live to eternity. One of the most important achievements ofman is his character. Without character he is about as useless as an empty boat floating on the water. To have real char- acter man must foster and develop certain qualities which will enable him to contribute to the building ofa better world of the future. Every person is not blessed with an abundance of resourcefulness, initiative and creativeness, but every individual can accept responsibility, can be honest and can be charitable. VVe have found that responsibility, honesty and charity, linked with God-given attributes portioned out to each man or woman, will take one over the rough spots and enable him to assume a place of service in the world and to live a life of contentment. VVe may celebrate a quarter of a century of cultural progress or even a centennial of scientific achievement but it must be remembered that only the nobler virtues of man, in the final analysis, form the permanent build- ing blocks of civilization.
